Custom Aux-In Module
#379
I am building a module also but its for switching video and its not composite although I can convert to that its RGBS thats what the rx8 uses for the TFT screen. Using this you can get much better quality on the screen for your car-puter / rear cam/ any other aux video device. Basicly its a cheap alternative for better performance to that unit at avelectronics.com

Not quite. I am very determined to get this unit completed, and the lack of support from the sales group of the connector manufacturer is infinitely infuriating.
Stay tuned.. I should have some good news in the next day or two.

Hey OverLOAD... ping me if you need any assistance on the production side. We're still very interested in supporting this project and ready to get this unit into volume production for you as well making the iPod integration stuff a reality.

I figured you guys are interested to see how we're doing on the board design. We've got the prototype board finished, and I know that you all want to see them.. so here:

Not that it matters now, but I was surprised to see this same connector on the bottom of a digital camera yesterday. The Kodak DX4330 (and others I'm sure) has the male connector for fitting into the female connector on the Kodak EasyShare Camera Dock II (and others). It is the exact same. Just FYI.

Nice work Overload! The board looks a lot more complex than I expected. For your efforts, I hope you sell lots of these and make beaucoup bucks. Can't wait to get my hands on one...

There was an earlier question about the multiple inputs and as you can see, we do only have a single pair of RCA jacks on the proto-board. This will most likely stay that way for the final board, and expandable/multiple audio channels will only be available with an expansion module, but it will still be an option.

I am so ready to get my system upgraded with this module. How soon? Have the capabilities remained the same as originally envisioned other than the number of inputs? As it gets closer to reality the individual application questions will overwhelm but I will hold back.

For some reason, I have a feeling this thing is going to pay for overloads car. Not saying that $50 is bad for this, but the amount of people interested (now more people with mazda3's) is going to make him a fairly rich man, especialy if he can take the design into mass production and market it.
