60,000 rx-8's made worldwide a year maximum.

If 1/10th of them buy this mod (6,000) and he makes $25 per unit that gets him $150,000.

Hardly a get rich quick idea is it.

Great eyes on that Kodak EasyDock! Here's a link. Use the 360 view to see that it indeed does have an offset 15-position connector. It LOOKS just like the one we're after! Maybe Kodak has a hardware developer program? :D

I'm eager to try one of these on the Miata's FMS modular system. I think it'll work, but it's too early to tell...

Went to a car audio place yesterday looking for an aftermarket tuner with aux in, he said it is unlikely there will be aftermarket faceplate for the RX8 because the tuner head is so integrated into the car. Basically he said I'm stuck with what I have if I want to keep the appearance the same as it is now. I'm eagerly awaiting this model so I can use my ipod in my car, the fm transmitter just don't cut it for me.

Did you try plugging your camera into the stereo yet? Maybe something cool happens.

Actually, that connector looks slightly different from both the Mazda OEM connector, and the connector that I have.. perhaps it's a little different in size? Perhaps you could photograph it next to a ruler. Would you care to take apart the docking station to see if the connector has any manufacturer marquee's that might be recognizable?

Regards,

I know this probably isn't the place to post this...but as I am a newbie to this stuff....

After reading some of the threads regarding the Avelectronics Nav display (i.e. tapping into the NAV display for other video feeds) I called the guys at avelectronics and they said "currently you have to cut 4 wires to install their system" I offered to help them develp a plug and play solution as I do not like cutting factory wires and they agreed. Hopefully within the next couple of weeks we will have a plug and play solution for using the nav screen. Yipee

Actually a bunch of people would rather just being able to buy the stock (or a replica) Nav screen housing without a screen. This is so that we may install our own systems/carputers. Instead of being motorized it could just be manual...popup-spring-loaded or pneumatic...

We're getting there, but can't discuss this on the forum, due to advertising rules, until we become a vendor.

So what I tried was getting the Video to switch and output well guess what it does! and looks clear like a monitor because its not COMPOSITE!!!!!!!!!!!

But inspite of that I am working on making it so it still has composite in for people who want it.

Computer -> Nav Works

Composite(svideo) -> Works (working on this)

Basicly all and all very cool

How is the video quality of computer to nav? Supposedly outside of a proper vga monitor, quality (re resolution) is low and NG for navigation maps...

This is not true RGBS is great quality as long as you go from computer to RGBS. Most people like who buy that unit from avelectronics use COMPOSITE which is exactly what TV-OUT looks like from a computer aka POOR Quality.

Give me time I will let you know more.

I have test this and it works

What connector do you use? Just go from the VGA into your module to the monitor?

What the resolution setting? Max, min and native...

Come on guys.. I'd like to keep this thread related to the AuxModule specifically. I don't want to be a party pooper, but If you want to discuss things that are way off-topic, like the NAV system, or Video, or carputer software, please start a new thread. It's already pretty hard to get around in this thread already and this isn't making it any easier.

Regards,

Hey. Rather than read 30 pages of posts about this, i wonder if you can just give me a quick status update. I'm picking up my Red 6spd RX8 probably tuesday or wednesday. And I really wanna get my ipod in there. My preference for the design would be to have the audio input all internal, so I could run the cable right from the line out on my ipod dock, all the way beneath the surface, to this device, so the interior would look nice and factory, aside from the ipod dock. I read your tape deck trick, but i would never EVER use a tape deck and it would really be a waste of money if your device is going to cost significantly less. Let me know, thanks!

I've been looking for this since I got my 2002 Miata SE.

Please include me in your list of buyers. I expect I'll be wanting (most of) the additional modules as they become available.

Thanks OverLOAD.

If an additional module which accepts a SPDIF input is to be expected, I was wondering if it will be able to translate multi-channel audio into the different speakers throughout the car?
