For curiosity, has anyone tried this yet? It was posted before, but I cannot find a thread about it if anybody ever bought one and tested it?

They said in an e-mail from them: "Plugs into the back of your radio,16 pin port, provides 2 rcas, then you feed in your audio via the rcas".

Nemesis8, what's the software version of your head unit?
The presence of a nav system does not mean that the PIE solution won't work - Bob has nav and he still can plug in the PIE.
You need to have sw. version 9.55 or above for the PIE to work. Check the PIE thread for the method to retrieve the sw. version.

We're about 99% complete with the software at this point. We've closed up our feature list and only have one minor change to make to the entire software, plus we need to do some in-car testing to see if there are any issues.
We're doing a design of a new circuit board for production. Now that we have a possible source for the connector, this hopfully brings us close enough to offer an easy to install module in the very near future.
Just last week I actually put the prototype system in my car with my laptop, and I was able to completely control winamp perfectly from the steering wheel. It's taken a long time to get here, but I think it was worth the effort to do it properly. There's not to much left to do at this point, other than the iPOD module, that is.

Great to hear that you have a source for the connectors Overload. That will up your revenue significantly I'm sure. Thanks for the update!

You're not into some partnership with OverLoad are you?
According to their comparison table the basic model doesn't support firmware upgrades so I probably end up buying both..

To elaborate on the upgrade procedure, here's the reason behind it..
The Text display is still a complete unknown to us at this point. We are very sure that we know how to control the hardware lines that the text display talks with, however we know almost nothing about the communications protocol. It is at this point not too difficult to get text from winamp to display on the HU LCD screen, but it is going to be a very time consuming task for us to reverse engineer the MP3 players text capabilities and implement them in software.
Additionally, the advanced unit will support firmware upgrades, which the basic module does not have software support for yet. This is a fairly intensive feature and it requires quite a bit of testing before it can be implemented. Therefore, to upgrade the basic unit to the advanced unit will require a chip replacement. A pre-programmed chip will be the entire upgrade. Essentially just a software upgrade. In the future, the basic module will also get firmware upgrade capabilites, however anyone who buys the basic unit in it's first incarnation will have to replace the chip to get a software update.

Oh, btw...
did you ever think about adding some kind of composite to RGBs converter, since the 16-pin-connector on the back of the HU is obviously capable of transmitting these signals to the TFT?!? That'd be pretty nice, I guess! And so there wouldn't be any need for a seperate module...
