Don't know if this is about the smaller one, but worth a try: https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=84903
What's wrong with the larger PCB? There shouldn't be any functional difference... do you need the space for something else?

Yes i need the space, i tried the regular auxmod and the board comes in contact with my MP3 player mod. the short board should work just fine if i can find one.

If you got a long one that's in perfect condition, I might consider swapping for my short AuxMod. I don't need the space, so the longer board could work for me fine.
However in order for that to work, I'd need to do this VERY soon as my head unit will be taken out of the car shortly due to a cracked button. I don't want to rip apart my dash more than necessary. Furthermore, I want to test the other module before giving away mine.

Who knows.. I sure hope so. Maybe I should take up a career as a procrastinator? I've got lots of pictures of updated hardware I could put on the website, but I think that's only going to make me busier answering emails.

The assumption here is, of course, that the tape interface/MD interface has not been messed with. I keep putting off just adding a cassette unit to my car because of this solution's potential.

I had an opportunity to test out the Mazda factory iPOD adapter today. It's not so bad. It does use the rear port on the radio, and charges the iPOD, etc. The down side is that it uses the External CD Changer mode (EX: .... on the display), and doesn't support any text on the display. It does do remote control, and charges the unit, but that's pretty much it.
On the up side, it came with radio removal and unit installation instructions for 5 vehicles, in 4 languages each, so we'll probably be posting copies of those on our website to assist with installation.
Hope to have more news soon!

You can connect the iPod through AuxMod because this one uses the tape player's port. This works with even the AuxMod Basic (but there is no iPod control with that). With the AuxMod Advanced you'll be able to control the iPod (provided it ever sees the light of the day )

Wow, Amazing Work
you guys are amazing...count me in for the mod.
Quick question:
I have an old laptop that i took apart to make a digital picture frame, but i would rather put it in my 8 as an aux with cellphone PCI internet. Its old, with a 400 processor; just bought 128mb ram and a 10gig HD.
Can someone guide me to making this work in my 8?
Here is another post of something that i wanted to do...
Now adding internet to that idea...
Thanks
Keith

I need your guidance, if you could please help me. I spent the last two days or so scouring the forum for Mod answers for a DVD system and new and interesting ways to mount LCD displays in the back (other than the back of the seat).
I have the Stock nav., and I didn’t want to fool with that too much.
This is my vision:
-mount small DVD player in the glove box
-mount two lcd displays that mount on each of the suicide doors that have the ability to swing out in front of the passenger and back flush into the door (I think of a camcorder's lcd movement, but 7-8" of course). Here's a challenge: can we rig it so that the passengers can switch channels, let’s say, from DVD display, to nav, to maybe even TV?
-eventually I want to install a "carputer" as you guys put it, as well. So whatever we come up with would have to be compatible ( I don’t like the idea of replacing the LCD display in the stock nav with a touch screen - I’m afraid to ruin it - that’s also why I wanted a second DVD in the glove box).
If I missed anything that was mentioned in the forums that you think might help please repost it in this thread. Thanks for your time and help.
