Installing subs? Well, first you need to find one you want, what size, how hard you want it to hit and how much you are willing to spend. You can spend anywhere from just 200 dollars to 2 grand.

I understand all about subs with aftermarket head units... My question is about how to hook it up in the 8... Do you need to hook into the lines going to the speakers in the rear, or are there some sort of RCA outjacks from the stereo? Installing stereo "stuff" in cars is easy if you have you're own head unit, but I've never messed around w/ a stock head unit (which I have to do in the case of the 8).

I'm looking at a single 8" sub and possibly 2 to 3 tweeters for the front. I wanted enough bottom end to just supplement what's coming out the front. Hope one 8 will do it. My custom audio shop came up with this set-up in a 1 cubic foot cab.

wow an 8in sub? i dont know if that would add the "thump" that would make your system nice and cut, but if you add a nice 10in in a sealed box you will defintely make the difference. personally i like kicker, JL audio and, Rockford Fosgate.

In that case KC you would be right...since solo-baric subs are equivalent to the size 2 in larger than it (sqaure design) I was just saying in his case. they make 8" solo barics? I've only seen the 10's 12's and 15's. but yea 1 solo baric would be do well in this case, but figure, the larger the sub the more air it moves, thats when you feel the hit. IMHO i wouldnt pay the $200+ for an 8in solo baric speaker, just go for the 10's or 12's about 40-50 extra and you will hear and fell the difference. BTW this was tested in my frontyard. Two Solo Baric 12L7's produced 110+ dba, two JL Audio 12W7's produced 120+ both were conected to two kicker 1200 watts mono amps. there ya go, just cuz its a sqaure design doesn't mean its better.
