One user claims the update is already out and its $400 for a new disc, $200 for an upgrade. When I spoke to the manager at Navteq last week, she said the map was not going to be out til the June/July time frame (supposedly), so I am trying to get the user to give us more info.

djseto, they're just giving you the runaround. In July it'll be October and so on. They've been doing this for a couple of years now.
I have a bunch of names of executives and directors that I dug up. I guarantee the reps and managers you've been dealing with are low on the totem poll. I don't have my car yet so I'm not making any calls until after I get it. But if anybody wants the execs contacts PM me and I'll send them to you.

So I dont get it. If its Navteq whos the problem, why would Mazda give us the run around. They probably invest a lot of money into these people, and I am sure that the Mazda designers and engineers would like us to have that product if that is the case. They make a lot of overhead on upgrades like these. Some thing like this, not only hurts sales, but also sales of upgrades.
I will be going to my dealership this weekend to get the run around. But I tell you what, I just paid $2000 far a up to date navigation, and i will get it.

Anyways, I believe the problem to be with Mazda and not Navteq. Navteq provides mapping data to a LOT of online mapping services (google maps for example) and their information is updated regularly. I think the issue is Mazda giving them money or whatever it is they need to release the data into production. Bottom line, Navteq would not be the provider of map data to so many mapping services if they are as bad as we think they are. If you guys wanna start calling people, I suggest Mazda North America.

AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH... Just called Mazda NA. The rep I spoke to said she was told from the VP of Mazda NA that Navteq is not releasing the data. She says they are well aware as they get calls about this all the time. She said all she can do is log another complaint. She was definitely irritated as soon as I mentioned the NAV for the 8. I am going to call NAVTEQ again. I am going to start a new thread with the numbers to call and bitch.

#$%@ -- The discs have been confirmed as being manufactured already. Navteq says Mazda has put sales of the discs on hold. The Navteq reps I have spoken to all say we should really bring the pressure on Mazda. She says Navteq did their end of the deal, they made the discs, but due to contract agreement, they cant just start selling them without Mazda's approval. They said they get calls about this every day and there is nothing that can get done. She said she would equally pissed and says we need to start calling Mazda.
I say lets do it, but are you guys actually willing to call them twice a day, everyday until we see some results?
UPDATE: See a few posts down for Mazda Contact Info

I'm willing to bug Mazda about this. Just for info, how do we know navteq has the discs? Did someone hear that in a phone call? Of course thier website says there are no updates, but I wouldn't expect the site to be reliable anyhow. I just wanted some more details so when I call Mazda to yell at them, I'll have more ammunition
