Diamond TDX HELP
What up everyone. This is my first post so cut me a little slack. I just got a Diamond TDX 10" subwoofer and the box they gave me looks like complete @$$. It doesn't fit right in my trunk and its the wrong color. So anyway. My question is are there any specs out there for a custom box for a JL 10w7 or a diamond TDX that fits right in the back of the trunk and sounds good so i can take this crap back and get something decent. I will post some pics of it later so you can all have a good laugh.

I was told by the installation expert at Freemans Car Stereo in Rock Hill, SC that JLW7's sound best in ported enclosures. And he also said to not go by JL's website for specs. So i went by JL's website and i am also interested in knowing if anyone has any specs for a custom box to make the W7 sound as good as it can.

i can help with the TDX since we are a Diamond Audio dealer. What i need to know is:
What kind of box would you like to place the sub in? Ported? Sealed? bandpass? etc
How big of a box? Dimension wise, how much room are you willing to sacrafice?
What kind of wattage are you supplying to it?
How low did you want it to play

If you are familiar with the trunk of an RX-8 Then i just want the box to fill up the back space. I have to just estimate the dimensions since i already have this box in but i think it is about H-13' L-28'- and the width depends. If it were an angled box i suppose the width would be about 14 inches on the bottom. If it were a square box then probably about 12 inches. I want good sound quality. If i put the tdx in a box of these dimensions is it going to sound like crap or still be booming? Right now i only have a kenwood 800 watt amp going to it but i plan on getting more later. You i am sure know more about it then i do. Would you recommend a sealed or ported box? The one right now i have is ported and it sounds really good and i only have it at half power. (its not broken in yet). I am willing to give up the whole back end of the trunk behind the seats. I still want to have trunk space though so i wanted to keep the indention free if that is at all possable. Thanks.

with the TDX, i would do a bandpass box since you only have 800 watts to play with. Id mount the sub sideways and locate the port near the pass through for ultimate thump. But you will lose a bit of clarity if you go with a bandpass box. With a ported box you dont lose as much clarity, but the loudness of the box goes down a few notches. With a sealed box, you get the most clarity out of the TDX, but you will need a massive amount of power for it to sound good. Also in my experience, the sealed route doesnt give off enough low end bass. I'll have my box guy do some calculations and post the dimensions for you on here later.
