I'm trying to figure out the feasibility of replacing my front door speakers with 8" drivers. I'm aiming for a light weight zero trunk space solution with a bit more low end. However, even through I’ve gone through all the threads I could find, there seems to be conflicting information on how much depth is available in the front doors. The sticking point seems to be that when the window is down, it does intrude into at least part of the opening (limiting the depth to somewhere between 2” and 3”). Also, a few people have said that the intrusion is small enough that deeper drivers (4” +) may be possible depending on the exact dimensions of the magnet structure. I’m wondering if anyone has taken any measurements that would be useful. A photo similar to the ones in this thread, but with the window down would be ideal.
