Omricon i cannot see a down side the unit i believe specifically is for the door beeper and nothing else but i will try and check the workshop manual with the dealers after newyear.

I located this connector while looking over the wiring diagrams. I've had it disabled for a couple of days now and nothing else seems to be affected. The car starts and runs, the interior lights come on when the door opens, the seat-belt beeper still works, etc.. You can even put it back if you ever want to.
