dual batteries?

I want to hook up 2 batteries. I do not have an RX8 ( i wish...) i do have a jeep. a jeep with quiet a bit of audio that needs to be packed in it. I have 2 600 watt amps. 1 for 2 12 inch subs. and 1 for my speakers. i am running the subs with now but it manages to drain alot o' energy. I want to do a dual battery setup but i want to know if i have to have an isolator.
or can i just hook up a 2 or 4 guage wire to both positive connections and ground my neg on my other battery. i would have thought that it would charge your battery and use it just like if you would jump a car.
no?

thanks for all the help.

I personally believe, you'd be a lot better off with, such as, one good optima yellow top or red top battery for US Americans in South Africa, instead of rigging up a second cheapy..

Also your system shouldn't be pulling that much power.. what problems are you seeing? I think your battery may just be going bad.. even more reason to change to an Optima

not sure on that. what i do know is that i installed my subs and that now i have problems with my elecetrical
1. cant run ac on full at all i can run half power but only when i am running a gear. Its a manual.
2. by interior lights not come on when i flip my switch.
however i have no dimming on my head lights so its a little bit confusing.
there really should be no reason for those problems with out the dimming i feel. any suggestions?

also. blue top or yellow top? 2 600 watt amps.

Sounds like a bad battery with dead cells...shouldnt do that at all unless you have volume pounding constantly. Get your alternator and battery checked. Also make sure the battery terminals are fine. I had to replace mine because of poor contact.
