Post DVD player

I sent the post on here earlier an e-mail but no response. Does anyone know a method to switching the DVD player to allow it to play DVDs as well as keep the option open to be able to put the nav CD in and it still work the same? I have a 6 year old who wants to watch his Shrek and Scooby Doo. It's for the Shaggy people!!! Info is appreciated by you senior 8 holders.

Ok, I'll bite. This is a topic discussed ad nauseum, but I'll throw down for a newbie.

There's no way to play DVDs other than the Nav DVD through your factory unit. There's no hardware decoder. The only solution *currently* is to buy avelectronics unit that basically taps into the source wires for the LCD screen and lets you add different feeds from either the included TV tuner, an optional DVD changer, or whatever video you want to feed it. Said unit costs around 500 without installation and no DVD changer. So for Shaggy and crew, look for an outlay just north of 1K to have it all done.

I also invite you to use the search button to find out more in older threads.

hmm...
Has anyone discussed swapping out the factory DVD player with an aftermarket DVD player that will also play the Nav DVD-rom?

So instead of getting the stock nav player to play movies try to get an aftermarket DVD player to play the Nav.

Where is the Nav firmware stored? Is the DVD player separate from this area or is it all one piece?

Think it is possible?

Just a thought,
