Elec problem of my car... help w/ FUSE

ok guys, two things... and the latter, i realized as i blew out my 15w fuse...

ok, a LONG time ago, my horn (our horn is made up of two pitches, a high pitch and a low pitch = combined freq's of pitches create our tone), one of the pitches (the low pitch) went out. After i pushed the car to its limits for the first time, @137mph, when i stopped, i realized my horn sounded like a complete B!tch... it's like an annoying nagging high pitch bug horn... i brought it to the damn dealer, and they were like, no, that's the horn, it's working, blah blah blah.. so i was like F. that. SO, does that mean that one of my Bigger larger fuses, i forget which one, but in the fuse box, it's the middle of the three biggest fuses in order) is out? is that why only one of the freq's of my horn work?

j/c and i pretty much just dealt with it.

anyhow, this weekend, i was doing some re-routing for my sub and amp. i've decided to put the amp by where the center rear piece comes off... like the space behind it on my sub box. As i kept moving around, (meet a friend for tools, move, etc), i forgot to unplug the battery. i hit the ground wire to the 12v wire, and all of a sudden, everything shut down... DUMB me. i should've realized that my batt was obv on when my exhaust was still shooting heat. i opened the hood, and everything, but oh well - i guess i forgot.

anyway, the 15w fuse went out. the car didn't start, so i thought i made a surge and the batt died. nope, it was the fuse. anyway, i put the spare fuse in from near the hood release, and it seems that my secondary siren (i have a little button, when pressed, turns on the sound of a car alarm thing... a siren... that when i press quickly, sounds like a booty call whistle) does not work now. The siren is wired directly into the power line of the sub and just taps into it... That's powered to the same fuse that i'm talking about above i think. I think it's actually the 12v fuse? it's one of the large ones...

any input on this??

Let the guessing begin......

....OK, my guess is that you mean you blew a 15 AMP fuse, probably the 'room' fuse.

The room fuse actually takes power thru a 30 amp fuse labelled 'BTN', so if that's your problem they may both be blown (but there are 14 other 15 amp fuses to confuse you.)

The fuses may LOOK good, try them with a tester.....
don't forget to test the ones under the dash.

i thought the ones under the dash were the spares...? maybe the one i took out is the fuse that was powered to my siren button... damn.

but stealth, yea, i meant the 15 AMP fuse, and i believe it was the IGNITION fuse from the top label of the fuse box cover... but i'll get it checked out

how do i get a tester..?is it that thing that checks voltage == has like two pin things with wires on it, and has a gauge or meter that measures current?? i dont' know, i'm thinking about stuff that i have at home that i could've used ..?

sorry, i dont' know electronics.

I getting warmer.....

....yes, that would cause problems if you started pulling 'spare' fuses from under the dash.

Anything 12volt will work as a fuse tester...a bulb, a trouble light etc. Wire it up with one wire to a grounded metal surface, and use the other wire as the tester. The fuses have two 'holes' in the top - if only ONE side lights your tester, the fuse is no good.

Good luck!
