Emergency Handbrake Replacement

Emergency Handbrake Replacement
I'm in need of a new emergency handbrake lever. Functionally the brake works just fine, but the plastic/rubber at the base of the handle somehow broke off and I'd like to not have what looks like a glaring hole in the center console.
I haven't had much luck in finding just the rubber/plastic handle itself, but perhaps someone here could help me out. Ideally I'd like one of the newer handles that comes with leather stitching, since I the original plastic one was ok but it really should have had leather stitching on it in the first place to match the stearing wheel and shifter.
Any ideas?

I bought an R3 leather w/ red stitching used on eBay. I was going to buy a black leather one but just happened to stumble on the R3 one day. *edit *I think i paid like $80 or so for the R3 one. *edit*
I believe overseas is the cheapest when I was looking previously, specifically this website:

Aftermarket?
I have the same issue, and I'm considering going custom with it. (Putting an aftermarket handle on there and make a leather boot for it.) I also need to buy a new boot for my shifter, and I was thinking about just buying the leather and making both of them myself. It's much cheaper if you know what you're doing, but simulating OEM quality with leather can be difficult. I'm not into the rice burner look, so if I do it, I'll do it by hand and match the stiching exactly. If you're crafty, you may consider the same.
I'm sure even a high quality aftermarket e-brake handle would be cheaper than replacing your entire assembly. I could be wrong, though. I'll post pics here if I end up doing it.

$180 is a pretty close price to the one overseas I believe, i thought they were more like $250. The dealership is sure it's a Mazda leather one though? The UK one I think runs about $150 converted? You should get the matching front & rear padded leather center armrests as well if your budget allows.
Lots of US people have ordered from that dealer/website, so shouldn't be an issue. I've seen posts by people with RX-8s, Miatas, Mazda 3s, etc. so they ship here for sure.

It is an entire factory parking brake assembly that you buy. Not just a handle. I was also able to sell my original non leather one here for like $40 or so to help defray the costs.

The tongue of the plastic base broke on my handle also. I will eventually replace it, though I havent justify the effort to go through the hassle. It just seems like a total bitch to remove the seat...

I didn't remove the passenger seat when I did mine because I didn't want to mess with the seat weight sensor. It was a pain in the butt though!
I recommend a 1/4" drive ratchet with swivel sockets. I forgot what size the bolt were though. 12mm? or 10mm? Also those ratcheting flex head wrenches will work well there too. There is only one bolt that is really hard to get to though so once you get that one, your home free.

I found taking out the seats were easy, when I did my cloth to leather switch. Just four bolts really, and only one is tricky to get to. Only takes around 4 minutes to get it out though.
Anyways, I have to say that my handle too has a broken base. I really don't like it, but its whether or not its worth the money to replace just that (I still think it is!)
Never the less, I gotta get my car running again before I do anything cosmetic on it :p
