exterior strobes

Wasn't sure if this was the right thread but it's electronics and wiring and such. But I was wondering if anyone has ever done strobes on their car before. I kinda want to wire my side markers to that they will strobe with the flip of a switch. Kinda like these http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXUPVnvIMxc I know, I know. It's kind of rice but it's just something that I want to try and see how it looks. Any one done this on their 8 before? Or have any idea how to?

I'm not sure that idea will go over very well with our crowd.. yeah it's extremely ricey - and illegal (for the street). I bet you would have to buy a kit - with all the electronics and special bulbs - I doubt you could do this to your side markers without some serious mods

I'm positive it's illegal while on the road.... and I bet the police will still give you a hard time while parked, unless it's in the middle of a legitimate car show.

But aside from that... rice is an understatement. Please don't butcher the 8.

Don't do it. i see it at shows all the time.

Even tho it grabs the attention of on-lookers. it screws up the lighting on people who actually want to photograph your car.

Better idea: save the money you would have spent on this kit and get two models to pose with your car holding glowsticks...

...be a winner...

I had strobes on my car for the Sema show, they were provided free (VARAD sponsosred my lighting with those and 2 underbody kits along with all the led's in the car, they do make a very highh quality product, I just despise strobes on a car lol) or I would have NEVER installed them. I would not recommend them though, they are played out, distracting, and scare people away from your ride, not to mention if a cop sees you running around with them on you'll get mega-popped. I had to drill holes in my headlights to install them, then silicone them in, it was the worst really. I've since replaced my lenses with new ones without the strobes and I'm much better off now. I would imagine this would be an even bigger pain in the *** to do it in the sidemarkers due to their size and location, it was hard enough finding a good place in the headlights, didn't even bother with the tail lights as there's no good place there either.

I only condone flashing side markers or headlights on highly tuned Drift cars.. Bah but this is very possible by stopping in your local auto parts store.. Go to their section HEH named "Performance" and check out Street Glow.. I always wondered why its called "Performance" But you wanna make sure to get the bulbs that say rated for 500HP + if you wanna eat up some turbo cars.

Put them on the rear and you can do the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs.
