Fabrication thoughts.
So i spent the weekend making some brackets to mount my new door panel speakers in place of the stock Bose system. I started with a large sheet of Lexan (it's what I have on hand) and attacked it with a Dremel. 4 hours later, this is the result. The plastic looks like crap because its still got its protective film on.

So as I was looking at this and said to myself. You know, I could mount lights inside the door panel so when you opened the door, light would shine through the speaker grills in the door. I've no idea if this will look good or utterly lame, so I thought I'd throw the idea out there and see if anyone likes it. My idea would be to make the lights themselves hidden, so you only see a reflected glow come through the panel rather then being able to see the source.

yea, doesnt sount like a bad idea at all. as lont as the lights are completely hidden it should look pretty nice. maybe try it on one side first just to see how it looks..

Actually, sorry to steal your thunder....I did this very thing in a 8 a couple of years back. There are pics of it posted here on the site somewhere. I have the thread saved at home, do a search and see what comes up. You might get some good ideas from the pics that are there.

yeah, I saw that thread but no action shots. Nice job on those door panels though. Since I'm going for a more sleeper look I guess I'll just have to do it and take my own photos.
