there is a diy somewhere. you will have to 'rewire' it a bit, if i remember correctly the motor is driven by a circuit on the original lcd's board, but the diy gives you a diagram for a simple functional circuit you can make as a replacement.

... good luck

alz0rz: so if I already have Nav and I swap in a new screen for a carputer, I'll need to rewire in order to get the open close?

I guess I"ll need to check out your thread again for details

I would imagine you don't have to since the harness is already there providing the function you don't have to.

alz0rz is right.. if you have the factory nav then you already have the wiring harness for the diagram he is referring to. There is no need to cut or re-wire any of those, that diagram is mostly for people who don't have the factory nav and need to run their own wires. Your only challenge will be fitting everything in the hood. You will need to disconnect the factory lcd screen from it's circuit board and then put in your new screen, with your screen's circuit board, and also fit the original circuit board back there. This way the open and tilt buttons will work, light up and dim, etc. and the screen will automatically open/close when you turn the car on and off. Depending on how you wire power to the screen itself the only thing you may have to do manually is turn the screen on and off when you start/stop the car. There's a thread by PatInTheHat that has some nice pictures of how he fit all of the circuit boards.

heh.. there was no organization when i shoved all the circuit boards in there.. i just sort of made them fit, and i stuck a cardboard cutout in between the lilliput pcb and the factory pcb to avoid interference.. i did a half assed job because everything is loose inside there. the IR receiver that i de-soldered and extended is held on by a piece of electrical tape! i take pride in my work
