Finally! a functional sub between the rear seats :)

Finally figured out how I wanted to upgrade my bose sound system, and got it done!

It's got just enough bass to sound amazing, but not overbearing. A big thanks goes out to Jon for the box, rockford fosgate for making an awesome sub, and the geek squad at best buy!

Even though they did make a little scratch on the faceplate piece... it was okay because they gave me 100 bucks off

you should price what that "little scratch" is going to cost to repair.. then see if you're happy with 100 bucks. I'll give you a hint, the face plate is part of the radio.. not just a replaceable part.

it comes apart. the semicircle piece is around $56 iirc. the faceplate i'm sure is considerably more expensive

the semi circle is cheap.. but when was the last time you saw someone selling just the faceplate for the radio... and mazda doesn't.

what's their policy on vehicle damage?

btw, awesome set up! It does look trashy either, but actually kinda classy.

doing a quick google search shows that best buy has insurance for damages.. You'll have to get an estimate from the dealer on repair costs and talk to BB about it.

the will fix it for free

I have a more important question.

Exactly how kinky are you? Inquiring minds would like to know.

Okay - let's get back to the original intent of the post. What gear are you using to drive the Fosgate? Where did you connect, before or after the BOSE amp? Where are you getting the 12 volt power? Did you include a capacitor? If not, do you notice any dimming when the sub kicks in? We need lots of details (but the pictures were a great help).

That looks pretty awesome! Is it really not too loud being that it's not in your trunk?

got a Boss 400watt 2 channel amp driving it. And I am completely clueless about car audio, best buy did all the other stuff. but i know for sure there is not a capacitor. and there is no dimming when it hits.

yeah it hits just right. i hate the sound of subs in the trunk, they sound muffled inside, and just sounds like rattling when your outside.

maybe it is just me, but i think the box could have been made to fit a little bit better in the given space. if you are wanting to replace that scratched plastic piece, i have one that i would be willing to let go of for a little $. feel free to pm me if you are interested.

the custom box was 50. I asked a good 4 or 5 of the local shops here in utah, and they all said it wasn't possible to put a sub there period. I just happened to stumble upon this box that a guy had for sale that his company made. and even a single 8 in barely fits, i doubt you'd be able to fit another 8 or a single 10 back there without going into fiberglass boxes which are super expensive.

$$$
$80 for the RF 8in P2 subwoofer
$69 for the 2 channel, 400watt Boss amplifier
then $70 for installation

I needed an amp kit, and some piece i can remember the name of which totaled to $100, which was the discount i got.

But out the door, it was $219.

sub and amp purchased online, then obviously 70 + tax for installation at best buy

impossible shouldn't be in the vocabulary of any audio shop. Glad you found what you were looking for

Copy away... and yeah it bumps decent. if your looking for other people to hear you this isn't the setup you want. But it bumps really well in the cabin. Just that little 8in upgraded the stock bose system soooo much

I wanted to do this in fiberglass with a jl 8w7. Just not willing to give up my rear strut bar. So it's going in the rear passenger corner.

The interesting thing about the damage..... They didn't even need to remove the headunit to do your install. The LOC could have been tapped right at the rear speakers. Exact same signal. IGN signal to use as a remote turnon could have been gotten from 50 other places in the car. Rookie mistakes all around. Sorry to sound rude, but I wouldn't take my car there again....

Thats a clean setup man! Im like you, I dont want the subs in the trunk, since theres hardly any room in there at all. Can you hear the speaker move, or is it just clean bass? Does the trunk lid rattle at all, or anything on the outside I should say? Thats my biggest gripe with subs in cars, is all that rattling when the sub hits.
