Firm ware question
Hi guys
I just baught a 2005 rx8 190 bhp.
The 6 cd changer is broken apparently beyond repair, the garage I baught it from are looking to get a second hand unit fittet. The firmware of the unit in the car is 9.67 which is a good firmware version to fit the x car link Bluetooth car phone/mp3 kit which I want to fit. If I get the second hand cd player fitted could this potentially change the firmware version of the car or is the firmware seperate to the cd player system?
Please let me know before they get their hands on a unit.
Thanks guys

Incorrect. We've had several members with <9.55 firmware units who purchased newer headunits strictly to get newer firmware. The dealership wants big bucks to update firmware, so sometimes it's more cost effective to just find another headunit.

You have manual dials, or automatic digital climate controls? If manual, tell them to just buy the Metra kit and have you pick out an aftermarket headunit. Or give you the money for it and you do it yourself. Anything you pick out will be an improvement over factory. And then no need to buy the XCarlink.
