Fixing the common and dreaded Handbrake trim...

Ok, we all know the handbrake trim snaps off on earlier 8's... had a search, but can't seem to see if anyone has had a crack at fixing it, rather than buying a new one.

Has anyone attempted this?

I am keen to have a go at fixing and doing a write up with pictures I can't afford a new handbrake assembly (which actually means, I won't be able to explain the cost away to my wife...).

..one small issue...

I lost the piece that broke off. Anyone have a donor tab from their broken handbrake??

Cheers

After 6 or so months I got an S2 handle to replace mine from a part out thread here. They slip off the assembly with a little bit of tugging.

Can't imagine it to be fixable no matter what consumer adhesive one would be able to find...

I was going to use plastic weld, some small metal rods underneath for strengthening, filler, sand paper to smooth it out, primer, then a trim texture paint...
