Flickering NAV

Guys,

My NAV screen has been flickering recently. Kinda like waves going up and down the screen. Anyone have any ideas? could the video cable have come loose, or is my LCD messed up? I want to take it to the dealer, but I have 19k miles on my car. Thats out of warranty isn't it? And if it is the connection... how can I get to the connection in the front/back of the car to check it out?

mine does it too...once it rebooted itself too

it's happened twice in 6 months, definately not worth letting the dealer tear my car apart for.

mine does it randomly, when driving, or at a stop light, doesn't seem to matter.

i've had my car for 4 months now, and it's happened about once per month, not a big deal right now, but i may change my toon when the 4 years are close to being up.

my navi has also locked up twice on me.

4 years... ?

You are saying I can get this fixed under warranty? Cause mine flickers 24/7, and its EXTREMELY prevalent and annoying at night

Yeah, I wasn't planning on doing anything unless it got worse, or the warranty was close to expiring.

My flicker rarely happens. In your case, get it looked at.

Let us know what happens.

I think its just the flux in power. For example... if you turn the stereo up really loud, you will see the flicker everytime the bass hits. I am going to try to add a voltage stabilizer (Like the Sun Auto one) and see if that helps. I have grounding wires already, but that might help. Otherwise, I think you will need to add some caps.

why would the car start having power surges while at idle, or driving down the road? ac off, radio off. Doing nothing other than driving.

It doesn't just happen for a few seconds, it can last for around a minute before going away. Once it goes away, it doesn't show itself for around a month.

To me, it sound like some sort of interference. I could be wrong, but I think something will be causing this to happen. What you need to do is locate that source of interference, and stop it interfering. It could be anything really; from some loose components on a circuit board to power surges from something else starting up. I would expect diagnosis of the exact source to be a bit of a bitch. All the same, extra capacitance on the power should help?
