Thumbs up FM Transmitter For IPOD, MP3, CD player and others.

I don't think this had been posted in this section before due to the new technology avaiblity.

Introduction of FM transmitter from MP3:
this is a device which you plug into your MP3 or any other external player, this device will send out FM frequency, you just need to tune your FM to get to play your songs in your players.

SAMPLE:
http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/rev...ansmitter-ipod

http://www.smarthome.com/9198.html

Note: some of the FM transmitter display the FM frequency it will send out, some doesn't. make sure you get those which will be able to.

What do you guys think about this new device? what are the PRO and CONS?

MY opinion:

GOOD:
1. No wiring needed and no messy wiring when you plug them, just plane players which you can place any where u want.

2. Can plugin to any device you like.

BAD:

1. this device rely on battery, AA, AAA or rechargeble, meaning low playing life.

2. seen some with car adaptor with wiring connecting the device, this also means messy wiring inside the car.

DOUBTS:

haven't own one of this, not sure whether the sound quality i good or not.

HELP~

Actually this is not new technology at all. I bought a real cheap one and it didn't work very well at all in my 8. Most likely due to the weakness of the signal and the antenna being in the rear windshield. More expensive ones may work better. I know there are some people with satellite radios that use FM modulators and have not had this problem.

Yeah, if my radio would actually bring in any stations I might consider one. I guess I need to park my car under their transmitter to hear that station! They should make having a radio an option like Honda does.

I bought the Monster FM transmitter as it was rated the best ($80!). Audio quality sucks. You lose volume and frequencies through the over-the-air transmission process. Don't waste your time and money on FM crap.

I just installed the AudioLink iPod hardwire kit found on this board (search this forum). It is WELL worth it and I think sounds better than the CD changer. Installation wasn't too bad.

There has been a tremendous number of threads on this subject. Just buy the pie adapter. It plugs into the back of your head unit. There are detailed information on how to remove your head unit. It is pretty easy and takes about an hour or two for someone that isn't mechanically inclined at all. It could be done in 30 min if you are. Just search for the pie adapter and it will lead you to all the information you need. Mazdaparts.com sell the unit. The sound quality is fantastic.

^^ what kachud said. Don't waste your time and money with FM transmitters, no matter how cost effective and simple they seem. Unless you live somewhere where there are no other users of FM bandwidth (or those that do are properly managed) you will experience constant interference as you move around...and even when you're not, the sound quality is just not there.

PIE adapter or OverLoad's Aux-In module

and don't forget to get the additional connection to go to your MP3. Mbus adaptor is what it is called I beleive. I purchased the PIE and the Mbus to 3.5 wire and plug my MP# into. The install took about a half hour. There is one bolt that is difficult to get to on your first attempt, when removing the radio. Once you know where it is, it is easier to remove the radio on future attempts. I have a holder that plugs into the lighter to keep the MP3 powered and charged. I tried an FM modulator and it wokrs awsome while parked. Any driving conditions lowers the quality tremendously.
