Footwell Lamps

Does anyone have the interior footwell lamps installed in their 8?
If so...

1. How do you like them?
2. Did you install yourself?
3. Were they hard to install?
4. Is the color of the lights red?

1. LOVE them
2. No
3. Didn't look hard, just need to be flexible to get your arm in the right spot to tap the wires.
4. No. I have RotaryRasp's LED footwell lights. ***

***he did a group buy on them a few months back but I don't believe he's making them any more. Try sending him a PM, maybe he has a spare or two lying around.

When do the lights come on in the footwells? Is it when your headlights are on or door is open or can you choose? And if you can, what do you guys have? Thanks in advance

i have mine to come on with the courtesy lights... like when you first shut off the car, unlock it... etc.

most people have them come on with the courtesy lights; when you open door, shut off car, etc.

Although, some have them on when the headlights are on. It's up to you...

I have the OEM

1. Love them - but they could be a little brighter.
2. Yes
3. No
4. Yes - though it's an awkward position to stuff your head under there

There's a "DIY: footwell light rewire" - iirc - in the DIY section that makes it pretty simple to wire to the parking light switch. (first position)

I wanted the footwell lights as well, but I installed two black neon lights under the dash and connected them to a switch. The light is subtle when looking at it, and then you put your feet in and they are bright.

Do you think hooking them up to switches is a possibility? I would love to be able to choose when I want them on and off...

Take a look through the DIY section. I think there are DIY threads for both methods.

making them come on when you want is as simple as grounding it and hooking the power wire into whichever wire has power when you want them on.

Sent RR a PM but thought I would ask here.

How many LEDs are one one strip? Also how long, in inches, is the actual strip?

Take care,

Brian
