Fully Illustrated iPod Install

Hey no prob. Mike, i suggest you give it a try. Its really not that hard. The only hard part is soldering, and I'm sure you can find someone you can bring it to that can solder it for you?

this DIY is very impressive. I'm in the process of buying XM. Can this hack be used to connect XM to the head unit? I assume this will sound better than FM Modulation? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I'm pretty sure it will work on both. I'm also not sure which I have, how do you tell? If this is like any of my other cars, the head unit is the same, and the 'bose' part is just nicer speakers and an external amp bolted on.

Custom Aux-In
A friend and I will be doing this mod in a couple of days. It'll be a little different tho. Instead of a male-end connection we're adding a female-end to the spot pictured here. Sorry dude used your pic. :D Anyways, I'll be using a Philips HDD100, a suppossed ipod killer. 15 gigs for 200 bucks, it aint bad. Plus it matches our trim very well! Black with silver...ooooo.

Yeah there have been lots of ipod killers... I haven't read one single good review of them. Besides iPod gives you 20 Gigs for $300, plus you get access to the iTMS, and an interface you can't beat. But hey, its your choice. But you might want to see if you can't try out one of those things your goona buy, and try out an ipod first, before you buy one.

It kinda sounds like your CD is scratched? If you do this hack right, the CD Player itself comes out in one piece and you don't actually do any work to it specifically. Can you be more specific on exactly what is going on.

Ok wat it was after the hack i put every thing back together then when i press the cd button nothings was happening so i took the the cover of the cd player and check wat was going on. then i saw few labels from the cd has come loss and jamed the thing. So i got sum tresers and got them out.
Ok so i thought i was gonna be fine now. when i pluged the cabke in its started doing sumthing i was happy and thought its gonna work.
So i press the cd button and it wasnt doing nothing. i can only hear sum sound outa it.
Then i decided to take the cover of the cd player and plug the cable back in so i can see wats going on. all it is doing is moving the cds around its just going up and down nothing much.
This shuffling business happens once in a while and i have no idea wat i can do no.
Sorry if i confused YOU

Hmm I don't know what to tell you, I only have the single disc. But it definitely doesn't sound like its something you did to it turning the hack. Sounds like you just jammed some crap in there. I'd probably try taking it apart again, and taking the CD player unit apart as much as possible, and make sure its all clean and clear of debris.

i tried taking it apart but i got kinda complicated. all i was able to take apart was the side metal pieces. then i got stuck lol. take a screw out the spring goes all over the place so i was like Oo im gonna stop now. i tried to take the cds out but was nit able to. Ok nvm im just gonna have to take it back to the dealers and tell em the truth bout wat i did. o well wish me good luck lol. guess i got to pay for it

LOL, I just "downloaded" your zipped AIFF files. That's got to be the best compression ratio of all time
So, what do you normally just put the CD on "repeat track"? Any drop-out when it gets to the end of the CD and starts over?
Thanks for your brave experiment!
