Gauge problem

I am having a problem with my gauge set up. I'm not to good with electronics, figured one of you guys could help me out.

I have a boost, water temp, oil and fuel pressure gauges all spliced into my car lighter. The problem is when I have the car lights off (like during the day) right when I start the car I hear a grinding type of noise (defiantly electronic) both my blinkers stay on like emergency lights are on. Once i turn the car lights on it turns it off and everything is fine untill I turn the car off. Soo I'm guessing I'm running too much to one rely or fuse something of that sort. I also don't have the water temp sender hooked up but everything else is, soo there is a loose wire in there, could that be it? thanks for any help.

What type of gauges are you using? Where are you grounding the gauges to? How did you route the wires through the firewall? If you disconnect all of the gauges except for one, does the problem persist?

I'm using prosport electronical gauges except the boost is auto meter manual but im still running the power and ground for light. I ground them to part of the frame under the hood and no I've had boost and oil pressure hooked up alone and it was fine. An yes i'm running them through the firewall passenger side. thanks

Sounds like you are causing a short somewhere. Instead of going to the cigarette lighter I suggest you grab an add-a-circuit from you local autoparts store. You can then run them off a 5A fuse and this way have them on their own dedicated fuse.

ill take a look at that. If i just do that for the power for all the gauges and then keep them all grounded to the frame. it should be fine? I've also heard of a "bus" is that a good idea? thanks for the help

Yes you will need to wire the power to the fuse while all grounds go to common (car frame). A bus wont help you here, a bus is a "network" line that contains data.

Alright, well im starting to think its not the gauges problem, I don't know what else it could be though. I have all the power for all 4 gauges and BC to the fuse box under the hood, have all the grounds for them running to the frame. the illumination is running for the 3 prosports and the senders. they look all fine and work as they should when i turn on the car lights. The noise i pinpointed to be behind the trunk opener under the steering wheel. I can take pictures if anyone thinks they can help. the same exact side effect's as before are still happening.

Errr, I am thinking the wiring is bad, short or overloading the circuit.

Any suggestions, on what to do to solve it. I just re wired everything yesterday. Like i said in the original post I have the sender wire for my water temp gauge hanging loose. Could that be causing a short and causing this?? thanks

That could be it yes, extra resistance in the wires from the short.

Sounds like your power from the illumination is backfeeding when the lights are off, causing relays to partly engage (and buzz).

Where are you getting the lighting power from?

The best place (since you are running off the cig lighter) is the tiny light on the cig lighter itself.

Disconnect the lighting wire and see if that fixes everything - if it does you may just need a diode in the light wire.

Heres a short video of the sound i'm getting and where its coming from. Like i said in the last post, I unplugged the power and ground to the gauges, unplugged the battery and then plugged the battery back in and tried starting it up. Nothing changed and all the problems still existed. any ideas or knowledge, would be great. thanks

Oh.......and on each gauge there is a power wire, a wire for the illumination, a sensor wire, and a ground?
That's it...............just four wires? Or do you have two ground wires for a total of 5?

And if your talking about the multiple grounds in this picture this is because i have all the sensors grounded here also. Soo 3 sensor grounds and one wire running through the firewall to ground the gauges and BC.
