Here's some links that I've picked up along the way (I'm not sure if it was from this forum or more likely from the MP5 forum that I sometimes check out)

http://www.autometer.com/hp/

http://www.dakotadigital.com/products.cfm?Category=2

http://nordskogperformance.net/streetdig.html

As of now, I don't believe anything is available as far as a custom made gage replacement kit for the RX-8 -- I could be wrong ...

But I hope that in a few years Mazda will add it to the RX-8 on their own as standard or as an optional package ...

I said it before and I'll say it again ...

I’d really like to see (as an optional if it can’t be standard) a complete fully functional gage display pack that clearly and accurately shows the normal and abnormal state of things with regards to: engine temperature, voltage/battery (Hey Mazda, there's room right now for a voltage/battery gage that will fit tastefully in the dash by the oil temp gage ...and as of now it's IMHO sorely missing) and oil pressure with an analog speedometer (or some kind of digital indicator that replaces the swing of the needle- maybe some kind of horizontal bar graph underor above the digital speedometer readout screen or else a digital light ring around the edge of the tach gage)!

:D

Don't remember what site I saw it at, but someone had used the dead space where the NAV system goes to install a set of gauges...I think it was on a Japenese site, not sure though...Not a bad idea if you don't have nav. If I can find the site again, I'll post it.

Mazdaspeed Gauge Pod Kit (w/ Water Temp, Oil Temp, Oil Pressure Defi Gauges)

Feed Meter Pod (angled wrong way for LHD)

If you can get the pod by itself getting different gauges isnt a problem, you could pickup a Defi Link or BF set for around 500-800 for 3 gauges, HKS or Blitz Greddy etc for a lot cheaper usually.

Id guess the pods above are for 60mm gauges.

What about that one car where the nav system LCD screen shows "virtual guages"? Is that going to be offered as an add-on chip or something? I think I would have got the nav system if only it did a little more than just act as a $2k map! I don't travel to unfamiliar areas of town much, but having it also function as a movie screen + guage set probably would have tipped me in the other direction.

I thought there was a air bag in the side pilars.

I think Omori gauges

are very nice. You can custom order them
to match the rx8 lighting. Unless you like
the rice look with mismatch lighting.

I saw those guages for the empty Nav Slot a week ago....where are they being sold? I opted for no NAV since I can read a map. Those guages would be great to fill the space....

Umm...have you actually been to that site lately? They state that their manufacturer has suddenly dropped North America and they are initiating a lawsuit, etc. Don't think anyone will be getting gauges from them for a while.

Wow. No I did not even read the site.
I bought my gauges from sinapore.
They gave me great customer service.
I just thought it would make more sense
if I gave the US web site.

I bought mine from here.
http://www.omorimeter.com/sportcar.htm

I custom order them to match my 1994 rx7
interior lighting.

Here's a pic of the RX-8 Mazda Speed NAV screen -- I really don't know anything more about this, other than what you see in this image.

I'm not sure if the ordinary NAV will work with these digital gages or not?

I'd still like to see included a volt/battery meter also!

I originaly saw it on this site:

http://www.mazdamp3.com/vbb225/showt...v&pagenumber=1

Mazda Forums > Mazda Family > Rotary Mazda's > Mazdaspeed RX8

You'll need to scroll down a bit and the pics were posted by gjmoreo Thanks gjmoreo

:D

... than a later post at that site with this explanation ...

it came with my R&T this month.. it's liek an 80 page book strictly on the Rx-8 and teh return of the rotary.. It's sweet!

If any of your non-rotary geek friends are subscribed to it, steal it from them....
... which appeared to be the same book that was giving a way free at the Mazda Rev-it-up-event and also came recently in the mail -- but sadly it's only a 64 page magazine minus the Mazdaspeed RX-8 pics that were posted ...

Anyhow trying to find out how many people would be interested in a left hand drive feedpod priced about $160...

Also would anyone be willing to pay $240 for a carbon version...
