Has anyone fitted iphone/ipod dock or Aux

wzup peeps,

I have lifetime sirius HD radio in my 8, but I'd like the ability to play music from my iphone from time to time, so I've been looking for a dock with AUX capabilities to buy and hook up.

I want to keep the stock HU, and i'm pretty sure it has AUX because since I have MD/Tape as an input option...

The question is, is there such a dock available for the 8. I've tried the DICE module in my 330 zhp a couple of years ago, but it may have gotten a broken unit, so i returned it and came up with an alternative when I did my car pc install...

Anyways, no DICE if at all possible.

Thanks for any input.

I use the Neo Prolink unit. Ran like 170ish maybe? Can control from the steering wheel, the iPhone/iPod or from the factory HU (at the same time). Doesn't need stupid playlists, etc. Any other apps (nav, pandora, etc) run through your stereo as well. Haven't had a single issue with it.

Neocaraudio.com. Taking the HU out can be a pain. There's DIYs on here though. If you look around, there's also plenty of mountable docks that the cable from this will plus right into so you just drop the iPod in it when you get in the car instead of fiddling around with a cord.

Funny, I use a DICE unit in my 3 series as well. Only problem I've had was it locking up once. Just had to disconnect my battery and reconnect it.

Hmmm, Actually....don't remember off the top of my head, but the Neo unit may plug into a sat port on the back of the HU... May not work if you want to keep Sirius. Give them a call though. They can answer any questions you have.

Thats interesting. When I ordered the stock adapter they told me they would have to disable the sat in order to get it to work. That the unit would not run both, only one or the other. Mine is an older model 05, so maybe they changed it in later models.

I contacted a seller on ebay who claims that in order to run both sirius radio and the ipod adapter, you would have to spend an extra $135 on a switching box.

The ebay seller claims Mazda makes the switching box which allows you to run both at the same time. The seller did also say that the kit "hould work" with the iphone as well...which is my main concern since I use one, and not an ipod.

On a side note, I have the OEM ipod kit for my bmw 330, and it does not work with my iphone; not even sure if it works with the ipod touch since I don't own one.

I'd like to know as well, I got a DICE, terrible product. The thing took forever to boot up, the interface made no sense whatsoever and couldn't properly be controlled from the steering wheel. One day it just "burnt out". Discussing the grom and neo, if either has had one, can you tell me if they have a boot-up time? Do they both charge the most recent ipod ? Steering wheel control is ++

jay,
I dont have the grom yet but is on order... the grom unit shouldnt take any load time (search grom ipod adapter on youtube. a guy with a mazda 3 shows just how it works). the dice and neo work through your satellite radio which is why it has to load with its stupid features... the grom (or mazda) adapter work through your cd changer... its cheaper, has less features, but seems much more functional for the person who just wants clear music without the hassle.

hope this helps,
cheers

FL iPod Integration Module works with iPhone 3GS and RX-8 2011

The dealer installed the iPod Integration Module and it works with my iPhone (even though it's officially "not supported" by Mazda). They installed the
F197 79 CFZ module and the harness kit (C9F5 V6 029) for the navigation model. (I also have Sirius satellite standard with the GT model.)

My iPhone (3GS) iOS is updated to 4.3.5.

I connect my iPhone in the glove compartment, and can control it through the navigation screen. I can see all of the data about the tracks as I can on my iPhone (playlists, artists, songs, podcasts, etc.). I can also control changing tracks and volume through the steering wheel. The module also charges my iPhone while the car is running.

It's too bad the Bluetooth wireless connection didn't work, but the iPod integration module works for me and sounds great through the Bose speakers.

This is exactly what they say they installed in my 2010 GT, yet I can't get sound out of the Sirius connection now and the dealer here is saying that Mazda says that it's not supposed to work. Did the dealer have to add anything else to you system except those two items?

I have the NeoProlink lying around in my basment.

To cut it short: It worked, and also the steering wheel controls were fine.
But it got extremely hot after a short time, and I did not want to risk my car for that piece of technology.
Also, contrary to its description it does not show any ID3-Tags in the display.

I have now installed a handmade adapter from a member of the German community which utilizes the MD-Slot, shows ID3-Tags and lets you use the steering wheel controls. At the moment it only has an iPod-connector, though.
You can even browse playlists. If I remember correctly it was about 125 bucks.

So in short: Hands off the ProLink.
