Question Has anyone installed the start button?

o.k. In Japan, the rx-8's come with this start button just like the Honda s2000. I want to know if anyone here has installed it in their '8 and if so what is involved? Please let me know. thanks.

did you do a search. i can't remember the thread but i've seen it installed on someones car. it looked pretty sweet. I've seen in mounted below teh stearing wheel on the right side and i've seen it put where teh cigarete lighter goes. So yea it can be done...but i dunno how hard it woud lbe to do it. Looks pretty sweet though.

My question is,can you still use the key to start it as well as the start button?I only ask because it could really throw off a valet, friend,or family member that is using the car.

From what I've seen, it's an easy job...the civic guys do this all the time...the S2K comes with it stock, and they just buy the part from Honda.

Its still an option in Japan, and its not really like the S2000 one, if you expect that, youll be quite disappointed.

You see, your key has to be in the starter, and you have to turn it to the "on" position before pressing the start button...

So its kind of a gimmick only.

It takes the place of the coin box, in the case of the right hand drive Japanese model it will be near the door.

So again, nothing you can show off about, nobody can see it

And the coinbox is a more useful option than this for that matter.
