Heat & AC problems

As some of you know, I am have recently revived a flood damaged RX8. It runs and drives and is a great car. But one of the problems that I am currently having has to do with the heat & AC system.

Here we go:
- The blower motor only works on high. The first 3 settings don't do a thing.
- The warm / cold **** Does go from 0-16 when tested.
- When you swap the heater box from floors, to dash, to defrost with the switch, the actuators are not moving. So it is stuck in 1 position. I replaced both actuators on the drivers side because they got wet.
- No matter what, heat is the only thing that comes out of the vents.
- When you hit the AC button, you can hear and feel the AC compressor cycle, but it doesn't blow cold, probably due to the actuators not being activated.

Any thoughts? Is there 1 device in between the ***** and the actuators that controls them?

Thanks!

Question number 2: Does anybody have a picture of an AC amplifier? or maybe a "what's what" of some of the black boxes under the dash. I have a guess at which one is the problem, but I don't know what it is.

Did you ever figure this out? This morning I got in the car and realized that the fan was on even though the **** was set to off. After fumbling around with it for awhile without any luck, it eventually went off. Not sure what was going on.

Hi,
I actually did figure this out, and it was a combination of things in my case. I had 3 junk heater box actuators, so none of the doors in the heater box were opening and closing like they should. This preventing the A/C from coming out the vents, and the different heat positions from working properly.

The heater blower motor being stuck on high was due to a faulty blower motor resistor. Once that was replaced, it worked in all positions.

In your case, are you sure that the exterior vent wasn't set to open? If that is the case, air naturally blows in on its own as you drive. As soon as you set it to "recirculate", the "wind" stops. Try it out, I bet thats your issue. Hope that helps !

Well I guess I failed to mention that after I couldn't figure out how to shut it off, I left the fan control in the off position and the "vent" on (not on re-circulate). It continued to blow out for about 3-4 min (probably a total of about 10 min). And then it magically stopped. So I'm not really sure what's going on... I'll check it after work and see if it does the same thing..... strange.
