Heater controls without radio

I have been searching for a decent answer for quite some time now, but havent found one so far. If there is a topic out there, excuse me, I might have overlooked. Most topics are with problems with the metra kit, either no or faulty heater controls or something else.

With the recent release of the new Haltech iC-7display dash, I have been playing with the idea of removing my current racingbeat and lotek gauge pods and making a custom center dash with the display. This would require to remove the radio all together.

Is it possible to continue to use the heater controls and the lcd display, without a radio installed, wether thats OEM of aftermarket.

I assume I would need a metra kit to plug the heater controls in, but I am not entirely sure if it would work this way.

I addressed it in the race forum a time or two, but here’s the general synopsis that I just posted a few minutes ago

if you go to the factory service manual and electrical manual the three mode controls each require a DPDT toggle switch to control which mode it’s in; recirc vs fresh air, hot vs cold/ambient if no ac, defrost vs vent.

edit: here it is: https://www.rx8club.com/rx-8-racing-...5/#post4894912
