Exclamation Help! Entire center console dead!

Ok i was in an accident about 3 months ago and when i went to pick up the car from the auto body shop about 2 weeks ago i started her up and i had no console. the lcd screen showed power but nothing displayed, no a/c, no defrosters, no radio, no cd nothing. i brought it to mazda and they said it needed a new radio?? so i wait 2 weeks for the radio and they change it and it still doesnt work. they even pulled another one out of another rx8. mazda said they will order a completely new console which i think shouldve been done in the first place. can anyone please help me out. mazda doesnt seem to know what they are doing and i need some advise. btw it has a six cd changer and sirius if that helps any. thanks a lot

Sounds to me the face plate is not in good contact with the Head Unit.

Maybe they didn't reconnect everything after the accident?

DD i doubt its that because they've tried other head units -

if it were me i'd check the main wire harness behind the HU, first make sure the connections are good then make sure it is getting proper power and ground. if not check ALL of the fuses.. I'm sure the problem is a small electronics bug somewhere, but i doubt it's your HU.

they did have to remove the unit to get to the airbag but mazda had taken it apart and reinstalled it and new ones a few times. im actually thinking that it could have been damaged when they removed it because it looks like the body shop tried to pry it out(scratches on the plastic next to the piano black.

i'll be bringing it back on monday so i'll mention the wiring harness to them. i did double check some of the fuses. only the ones that would affect the interior and they were all good.

Head unit has nothing to do with the faceplate...if it doesnt have good contact the display wont work or display correctly. Theres little prongs the contact between the HU and the front face plate.

just got her back from mazda and everything works. they went ahead and replaced the entire console so there must have been something damaged in the original one in the accident. again thx for all of the responses and input.

i never realized how much i took the radio/cd for granted until this. driving for almost a week with no radio/cd was horrible. plus the 80% humidity didnt make it any better with no ac. but i'm glad they actually fixed it(not like they really did anything)
