Help!!! Is this even possible?
Ok, I have done numerous RX-8 club searches as well as Google searches and have found nothing.
I have a 2004 oem Bose single disc CD player. I have an Xcarlink usb/scard reader for mp3 files. And yes I already checked to see if the firmware is compatible.
I want to put the Xcarlink device and my amp bass boost control **** in the empty mini disc compartment.
I am not sure if it is possible to run wires through the oem unit to support these actions.
I would of course cut the appropriate holes in the mini disc face plate to make it appear stock.
Is this possible?
Any help/suggestions would be great.
Thanks in advanced!!!!

Yes, it is possible. Without the lower MD/Tape module in the stock radio, there is room behind that blank faceplate to run wires. I have 5 USB cables and a USB hub shoved in there for my car computer.
Be warned though, that faceplate is NOT flat! I measured and dremelled out the hole for the hub's faceplate, only to find that the completely flat hub faceplate would not work with the curved surface of the OEM radio.
I would suggest just cutting a round hole for the amp **** to stick through, and a slot for the USB/SDcard, and it shouldn't be a problem. I'm looking for another plate myself, and will eventually cut 4 holes for the USB ports directly.
