Fuses...
Grab your owner's manual and have a look at the fuse box diagrams. Fuse box is near your left foot if you are sitting in the drivers seat (kick panel area). Pop off the cover and follow the diagram in the manual to check for blown fuses. The radio fuse is a 7.5a fuse in the inside fuse box. You also may have a 20a fuse. I do not have this fuse, so I'm assuming it's for the Bose system. Also, you can check the main fuse box under the hood. It is on the front right side under a plasic cover (if you are standing in front of the car.) I am having a very similar problem and would like to work with you to resolve these issues for the both of us. I have installed 15+ car stereos, and have done several iPod integration projects in the past. I have NEVER run into an issue like this before. Gotta love Mazda's electronics! Give the fuses a try and post your findings. We WILL get to the bottom of this issue.

Power Problems...
I'm not sure how Icelink installs, but if you are using the cigarette lighter socket as a power source, try disconnecting that and see if all of your controls work again. This solved my problem. See my thread Harmon Kardon Drive + Play install for more info. I hope either of my suggestions solves your problem. Let me know how it turns out.

well...
Ok, that's not it! With the radio partially out, push on the wires going into the power harness that connects to the back of the radio. Mine appear to be loose and this is causing my issue. Give that a try. If they would give you more slack in that harness, this would not be a problem.
