Ah , no you have the switchblade key.
Mine has teh creditcard key, i never have to use the key, just be within 3 feet of the car and i press teh button on teh door handle and teh car opens. Once I'm sitting in the car the start **** unlocks and I just turn it to start. Totally keyless.

I'm wondering if the Modules are different depending on what system is installed.

They could very well be!

I will do some research and see. If I was you.......I'd cut nothing unless you can match up with exactly what I say in those pics! I've got all the wiring diagrams, so let me go look again. Do you have two or three connectors on the keyless entry box? Make real sure for me.

Okay,

On one end of that center connector(which should be long and have two rows of pins/wires), you should see a black wire as the very first wire.......if you do, look on the same row, but all the way on the other end of the connector. Here you should find a blue/red. If you find the blue/red on one end and there is a black/yellow in the next row right at the end, then here is what you do.
Go back to looking at the blue/red and stay on that row.

Working down that row, it should go
blue/red
green/blue
yellow
brown <--- what is in this position? Can you see the one below it in the other row.....Is it gray/red?
orange
black/blue
blank
blank
white green
green/red
red/yellow
and end back at black as the last one....and on the other row with the black, it should be blank.

I looked and mine is definitely different.

I headed to the dealer and they didn;t understand it, but after some digging, they found a letter from Mazda Canada that states " The Shocksensor for the 2004 > will only fork on 2004 to 2006 without the smart key system. The sensor will not work on 2006 with smart key or 2007 2008 models."
They made a call to mazda technical hotline and I'm waiting to see what they say.

There are two shots.
1.) For orientation, but does have some text on it.
2.) Closer up with more detail

White311.........you don't see those connectors or box huh? You got screwed then...unless it's somewhere else, but you not being able to set it off with the panic after it's armed..it's not looking good!

nycgps........if you get a chance, please review my two photos and text and see if you agree please?

BTW........don't be fooled by the area just to the left of the 14 pin connector in photo two, there are two connector there that are very, very close, and it kinda looks like it might be mis-wired, but it's not. The simple fact of the matter is that the SOLID brown wire to be cut comes off the center connector of the keyless entry module and runs down and joins other wires into the large bundle that ends up running along the firewall. Once you find that CORRECT solid brown wire, cut it and attach the diode assembly with label side going to the keyless module side and the non-label side of the diode assembly goes to leading into the bundle.
My car just came back yesterday Im gonna go down and take a look right now.

This is also what I have heard from MazdaUSA hence 2008 GT is N/A on the shock sensor option.

Was beginning to think that because when pouring through the schematics yesterday, it became apparent that if you don't have the "theft deterent system" then you wouldn't have a brown wire or the gray/red on in that middle connector. That's what I was going to tell you next once you confirmed that you did or didn't have it. Let us know the results, so we can help others when this comes up. Get as much info from them as you can and make sure what they told you above was true and accurate okay?

Good Luck,

Dave

Hmm, Well my father has the 08 CX-7. He got the *theft deterent system* and I just looked at it and they dont have some box like we do. He has the keyless entry (I kind of like it)

I know its a different car, but it came from the same production plant (I think), and usually they use similar stuff in all their cars ...

So it might NOT work with keys with Keyless entry .... dont quote me on that !

It appears not.....seems like we need to wait and see but looks like Mazda is now saying it doesn't work on any 06 with smart key and possibly not on ANY 07 or 08.
Think we need confirmation on that.
I hope that they can get a copy of that letter and post it!

Thank you and "no" I haven't done it yet.
Oh...given what Mazda told you....can you get them to give you a copy of that letter that you made reference to below? Would be good to scan it and put it on here for all to see. This issue is gonna come up over and over again because as you know, that paperwork that comes with the sensor says "2004 >" and that looks to NOT be true.

hate to bump an old thread... i had an unpleasant incident and would like to upgrade my system with a shock sensor.
but according to my search over at rosenthal mazda... they don't have a shock sensor available for my '07 with the smart keyless entry.
and as well as over here on my search in this forum...

has anyone found out on what the status is on '06+ with the smart keyless looking for a shock sensor upgrade?

any help is appreciated.

For the 2006 models, I went to the Mazda dealer today while getting the MSP16 flash. I asked them where the keyless control module for the 2006 RX-8 is (I have an AT base model... nothing fancy). They said it was right behind the glove box. Before saying OK and just cutting lines I decided to come back to the forum and see what the pictures that were posted were showing. Looking at the picture that white311 posted on page 1 of this thread (picture 1), it looks a lot like the one behind the glove box (picture 2). It even has the required wires (blu/red, blk/yel, brown and black) as shown in picture 3. The black wire is located under the blue arrow.

For the connection I pulled out the connection from the keyless control module so that I could get to it easier (lucky 2006 owner, no contorting or knuckle busting here ). I tapped into the blu/red, bly/yel, and the blk wires (red arrows), I then cut the brown wire and connected the resistor (label side) to the side with the green arrow. I then reconnect the harness and attached the shock sensor. After cleaning up I adjusted the sensor. Everything worked fine. I hope this helps.

My 2007 is done, that you all for the help.
Mine was in the "easy" place behind the glove box.
If I had to do it again, on a 2006 and up RX8, I could do it in 15 minutes.

Thanks again for the help.
