Help with tapping into rear speakers?
Hey,
I am in the middle of hooking up a sealed 12" Alpine sub in the trunk of the 8. I already have the sub mounted in the box, and cables running for the power (with fuse) and remote turn on. The ground will be no problem, but I'm wondering how I should wire into the rear speakers to get signal into my amp.
Disclaimer: I have searched and read the stickies, which has helped a lot. But perhaps I'm dumb when it comes to wiring things. I already know I will be tapping into the rear speakers before the amp, for the cleanest bass possible. But how should I cut and attach the wires of an RCA cable? I need to run RCA into my amp, but somehow maybe cut and splice to make the other end work with the speaker wires I have to connect to. I saw a photo of four cables ( rear left + and -, rear right + and -). Can someone break down exactly which ones to tap into, and how? I cut an extra RCA cable I had and it came out looking just like speaker wire, with only two ways to connect to something (the red and white sides). I hope all of this makes sense to someone and I can get help with this crucial part of the sub installation. I can post pics when it's done if anyone is interested.

most people use a LOC(line output converter) to connect the RCA's. it ounds like you have a bose amp which i don't so i dont know if i can be too much help. i just tapped the wires right as they come out of the speaker. made some pig-tails to go to the LOC. then i plugged the RCA's in with no cutting. hope that helps a little. here's some pics of how i did it.

Thank you for the reply. I have seen photos from another thread similar to yours, but I'm still slightly confused. I have the Bose system, so I would like to tap before the amp goes to the speakers. I'll be putting my ground wire in now, but I don't want to start tapping into cables before I know what I'm doing. Also, I will be running directly to my amp for a week or so until my Line output converter comes in.
So, I know which wires I have to tap into and what color they are, but with four cables to connect to, and only two cables to do it with, I'm confused. Would I tie both the positive and negative of each speaker to the speaker wire end of my RCA cable?

For now I'll be connecting to a mono subwoofer amp with only one set of RCA inputs for me to run. So can someone help me out? The only thing holding up my subwoofer installation is this issue.
