HELP!!! Vomit in my back seat!
My daughter has been sick today so I had to pick her up. On the way home, she puked all over the back seat. She got the seat belt, the seat, the carpet on the side of the armrest, and the armrest itself, and it even got down between the seat and the armrest!
I need to know how to get the back seat out to throoughly clean it, and what I can use to disinfect it without damagint my leather.
Thanks!

Ouch. I'd start by steam cleaning the carpet. I'd take the entire center console out as well as the rear seats to do that, to make sure I don't miss anything. then I'd clean the seats with some kind of leather cleaner (I'll let someone else handle what to use on leather, i have cloth seats). The seatbelt should clean up just fine with a bowl of water and laundry detergent and some elbow grease.
The seats just pull right out, grab the front of the seat pan and pull straight up. the seat pan will pop out, and reveal the 2 bolts that hold the seat back in place. you'll want to take out both the seat back and the seat pan, leaving any vomit behind will smell.
Finally, I'd get some airsickness bags to put in your car. The last couple of business trips I took, I stole the airsick bags, then put one in the rear map pocket, one in the center console compartment with the nav DVD drive, and one in the pocket of the passenger door. The thought of one of my drunk friends puking in my 8 fills me with dread, so I prepared.

The rear seat bottom cushion pulls up from the front. There are two lugs holding it down.
I've cleaned messes from leather by washing with a cloth, dish detergent, rinsing , and drying with a soft towel.
After it's pretty dry, clean with your favourite leather cleaner (zymol, mcguiars, zaino, etc.) and then a good leather conditioner.
The seatbelts can also be spot cleaned with water and dishsoap + rinse, blot and air dry.
The dishsoap should remove all the smell. I wouldn't use anything harsher.
Good luck - happens to all parents.
EDIT: + what Socket says about the carpets and plastic bits. Be thorough.

Awesome! Thanks guys! No one ever rides drunk in my car. We always take the Altima for those trips because my GF can't drive stick, so most of the time, the puke ends up in her car if anywhere. Luckily, the only person who seems to throw up in the car is our daughter, but I can't get mad at her because she's only 6. LOL
I though about posting pics, but I figured I'd spare you guys the stomachaches. I remember seeing pics of the G35 where the guy's dog **** everywhere inside it whie he was picking up a date, and that was RANK!

I almost had the same thing happen. Driving a drunk friend home on I-218 in Iowa doing 85 at 3AM and all the sudden I hear him mumble "Im gonna be sick". I slam on the breaks and promptly get onto the shoulder. He opens the door when I was at about 10mph and starts. YYUUCCCKKK!!!!!
There was some vomit on the plastic kick piece but that was it. Thats my close call story, and I quickly voided the option of me being the DD ever again.

+1 to using a professional. I had vomit cleaned out of my old 240SX for $60 and it was good as new. Took the guy only a couple of hours and there was zero smell left behind.

Most of us spend all our 8 time in the front seats.....how many of us have actually travelled any distance in the back seats? I felt like puking after 10 minutes it was so claustrophobic. (And I'm not soft, I grew up in the back of an 1983 RX-7).

Bottom part of rear seat is held in by one clip towards the front of it. Grab underneath and give a solid pull straight up. Should pop right out. Use dish soap and water to wash away the bulk of it on all parts of contaminated area. Scrub away. Rinse with straight water. Then use your choice leather care on the leather parts to condition and give it that cowboy leather store smell. I use Zaino leather in a bottle. For the carpet (after the bulk is removed by the above method), I'd use a machine. If you have a carpet cleaning machine for your house, does it have a smaller attachment?
You can take it to a professional..... but $60 for a spot treatment is pretty damn steep IMO. I'd give it a go myself and if I find that there's no way I can do it, take it to them.

I recommend Saran-wrapping or shrink wrapping the entire rear seat area (seats, floor, ceiling, windows, seatbelts, backs of the front seats, everything) for at least the next 5 years.
Better put down a protective waterproof vinyl tarp as well.
Is an emergency ejection seat something you would even consi........wait.....nah, scratch that.
BTW, Resolve carpet cleaner works well for carpets.

Going on two years with my car. Had a passenger in the back seat only once. My friends know better. We don't pile into Ken's RX8. Many even honestly believe it's a two-seater. LOL

Ok, so I pulled out all 4 seat sections (both bottoms and both backs), and hosed them off. Then I went over them with water and dish soap, rinsed them, and dried them. Then I let them sit in the sun for a few minutes, and did a few treatments with Son of a Gun (only thing I had for leather). I soaked everything that got under my seats in warm soapy water while I scrubbed the carpets, and then I wiped down the paint. The seatbelt was a bitch to clean, but I got a brush and got that taken care of. I did one final treatment of Son of a Gun on the seats, a final inspection, and put it all back together. Going on day 6 with no smell and no puke in my car.
Thanks for the suggestions! I'll post up before and after pics soon. LOL JK.

My cars a party wagon lol. I always have people riding with me everywhere, I enjoy the car and utilize the **** outta those back seats, thats what sold me over the Z. I havent had too much damage done from anything really. The silver pieces have scratches and one of my leather seats has a scratch (not sure where that came from), but hell, Ill enjoy it and fix things as needed

LOL yeah riding in my car is a treat, and driving it is like the Holy Grail to my friends. One girl said that's all she wanted to do for her birthday and before she left for Air Force Boot Camp. I'm in it alone most of the time beause we take the kids everywhere in our V6 Altima, but every now and then, I like to take wifey out in it to make her feel sexy.
