Homelink Visor/Modules - Check it out!
I found the perfect garage door opener solution for those of us who think a sunroof is a waste of weight and who think it would therefore be stupid to shell out an additional $1400 - $1600 for a shitty bose stereo and homelink mirror:
Homelink Visor Information
I've called their number for more information and basically it's the homelink unit professionally installed into your existing visor. You need to call Mito Corporation to find a certified installer near you. What they do is cut into your existing visor to install the RF transmitter. I'm not sure how they power the thing, but I'm guessing it's by tapping into the vanity light power supply.
Cost runs about $200 plus installation. I think the Homelink Auto-Dimming Mirrors run from $220 - $400. Some of the higher end models feature map lights, outdoor temperature, and a compass. You can also find homelink modules on ebay that have been removed from other cars that are much much cheaper for those of you DIY types... I think I'm definitely gonna go this route!

actually, I've talked to licensed installers for the homelink visor and they tell me it's not a problem to install into the hard abs plastic visors at all. THe only problem is installation costs about as much as the module. Best route would most likely be DIY.
