How likely is a keyless receiever to malfunction?

It's been a problem that's plaguing my car for over a year and granted I've got used to locking and unlocking the car using the keys.
So my real question is, has anyone ever got to replace the keyless receiver in the glove box?

Yes I've bought a new switchblade key, and yes I've checked the batteries and yes the switchblade is the correct model.

i dont have the switchblade but i lost the actual key part of my key and went to mazda to get a new one and they took like 2 days to program the thing I don't know if this is because my mazda dealership sucks *** or because its that hard to program the key?

The thing is... I brought my car to the dealer before and let them "diagnose", and they said they couldn't do anything about it as they've tried everything (wtf right?)
