hey folks....i own a 2007 rx8 * black all ove baby!

My music system is stock, i havent done anything to it, however i have a problem. My car doesnt play mp3s...this pisses me off! what can i do? can i buy software and install it or have something adjusted? all my friends' cars play mp3s...im stuck with normal 10-15 song music CDs....can someone help me out please?!

I believe in the U.S. the headunits come stock with a single CD player. You can then pay to swap the unit out for either a 6-disc changer (which does not play MP3's) or a single disc MP3 player.

A far better solution is to add an iPod adapter to the CD-changer port on the back of the deck (DICE makes one, for example) or that connects to the optional tape deck port (Axxess makes these). Most have an AUX port as well in case you have another brand of MP3 player.

 

The 07 came with a 6 disc changer. You have to swap it out for the single disc mp3 player.

Those are the pieces the dealer will hit you up for. You will be much happier with the $100 iPod adapter and spending $300 on an iPod.

 

buy an Ipod, put all your music on it, buy an ipod adapter (audiolink, axxess, oem, etc), never have to burn another mp3 disc again.

 

I would suggest to do more research next time before buying the car if you are looking for certain functions to be on your next vehicle.

MP3/CD player is not standard on RX-8, only available as option.

'04-'06 and '07-'08 Sport/Touring comes with Single CD player, 6CD optional.
'07-'08 GT package comes with standard 6CD changer (no MP3 capability).

'09 has MP3/6CD changer (I believe as option) like other Mazda line-up.
