How to Power up a DVD player + LCD screen???

i'm planning on integrating a DVD player + LCD screen into my car's audio system...
how should i suppose to power them up???

also.. am i buying the right things for my "sound" connections?

from mazdaparts:
P.I.E. MAZ/PC-ALP Aux Input Converter + PIE ALP/M-RCA + ground loop insolator

OR from sylfex:
aux mod + RCA cable + ground insolator

any help or suggestions would be great~!!!!
thx~!!!!!!!!!!!!

you should be able to use the power going to your HU now - or the power going to the cig lighter..

the auxmod is the cheaper / easier way to go..

have you thought about getting the corksport kit and a good HU that does DVD and Nav and everything else you would need? sirius/bluetooth/XM Navtraffic/MP3 music/etc... etc...

be carefull if the cig lighter has to many amps that will burn you stuff out..use the power behind the radio test the wires with a volt meter

search for corksport and you'll find pretty much all your answers in those threads. Not saying you have to go the corksport route, but the guys here who have installed them have posted some pretty extensive information.

is there any sound quality difference between Mazdaparts' P.I.E. MAZ/PC-ALP Aux Input Converter and sylfex's aux mod ?

i'm using the retractable LCD holder
i want to keep everything as stock as possible

You can easily power it from the lighter but I wouldn't recommend it not becauese of the amps but the high level of noise...more AMPs will not damage anything...it is more volts that causes damage or in some circuits a drop in voltage.

You can easily add a fuse to the cabin fuse box by using a 'mini add-a-fuse' which splits the line and provides a holder for the displaced fuse and the new fuse.

Then I would ground it directly to the battery with a fairly large wire to prevent noise. The RX-8's ground is notoriously bad due to many aluminum panels, metal adhesives instead of welding, and more.

And of course I recommend the PIE over the syflex aux mod, especially if you have a tape or MD drive. The reason why I recommend the PIE is that it comes in a self contained box that uses a port that is not in use unless you have Sat radio...plus it works flawlessly, noise free. A ground loop isolator is simply a bandaid on a much larger problem.

I'm glad zzzzwong got his retractable nav hooked in...the pictures I've seen from the setups looks great. Keep them coming it is fun to see the different setups, dvd players, carPCs, and video game systems !

i consulted a local audio shop today....
we talked a bit and had an order list done
i was surprised that they didn't request for any power wire @_@
so i asked the guy about how they usually power lcd+dvd+nav up...
he said he doesn't need a power wire... usually he tabs the wires into the radio harness for power.....
hmmmm... then i asked him how much is the installation fee: $800 CAD !!!!! wow~
i kno it doesn't worth it??
becuz i believe that i can do all of the installations except .....
just how do i power them up!??!? >.< sorry
i got most of the idea but i'm so frustrated
i mean wut exactly should i do
can anyone explain it step by step?....or any diy pix would be greaaat >.<!!!!
and thx to everyone who helped so far!!!
thx!

personally, i would run a 10 gauge power wire to power up anything directly to the battery. Just make it safe. There should be a grommet of some sort or somethin to get the power wire through the firewall pretty easily on the driver side. Hope this helps.
