So my question to everyone is
#1 From the threds I've seen it seems that ice link is perfered but there is no pics of how they have been mounted.
#2 that leads to the question how did everyone who did it mount them and could you please post some pics.
I want to get it hooked up but would like a little more info.
So far this forum has given me all my info about it. Now I need a little more.

Thats what they told me when I ordered the neo I yesterday. The customer service is great. They even upgraded the shipping for free. When I get it I think I'll put it in the glove box. The center consol will get to hot I think.
Thanks for the info and pics kellybrf.

you might want to check w/neo and see if its the ice link or the ice link plus. the plus seems to add some cool features (namely id3 tag support) that id love to have.

i was worried about it getting too hot, but its really not too bad. the nice thing about the center consol is when i want to change playlists, etc at a light i dont have to fumble w/the glove box

I'm interested in picking the Neo up to, but curious if it's the Icelink or Icelink Plus. Please let me know if you hear anything. Also, can somebody describe how it interfaces with all the factory stereo buttons?

1. Do the 1-6 buttons select different soundtracks like I've been reading?
2. Does pressing repeat or shuffle on the factory CD player actually work for the Ipod?
3. Just want to make sure that the steering wheel buttons still work for both volume and switching through songs. What about the mute and mode buttons?

I have the NEO ICElink Plus and all the steering wheel buttons work as normal. The mute, volume and mode buttons are used for the head unit. They are independent of anything you hook up to an auxiliary input. The random button on the head unit will shuffle the songs, however as soon as you push the button to skip a song it goes out of random mode. No big deal but if you push random again all the songs you just listened to will go back into the to be played list. You can switch between 5 play lists by using the next disk buttons (1&2). You access the icelink menu by going to the 6 disk (EX6) and you can control shuffle and other options from their. If you do get the icelink plus make sure you upgrade to the firmware of the icelink (NOT THE HEAD UNIT) to version 2.06. It comes with 2.05 and does not work very well.

Hope this helps

I don't have the 6 disc changer head unit, so I'm not sure if I have the next disk buttons. Will I still be able to switch through my playlists w/ a single cd headunit? Also, how do I go about upgrading from 2.05 to 2.06?

All head units on the RX8 are disc changer capable. They just don't have the mechanism to accept cd's. The NEO icelink plus plugs into the port that the cd changer normally does. Trust me. You have cd changer controls on your headunit.

Here is the link for the firmware upgrade

I don't have any pics since my digital camera's busted and I've yet to replace it. I put the iceLINK away from the glove box and over to the little coin tray that's right above my left knee. This keeps it from gruby little hands that want to change the song while I'm driving since I leave the iPod gui on. I'm having a few problems with the shuffle toggle staying on through the iceLINK itself it always turns itself off.
