Let us know what Dension says about that please

I think I might be the first to get mine installed. I froze myself for YOUR curious needs!! Rejoice! it works! I have the 9.55 firmware and I was a little hesitant, but sure enough the little desnion screen came up on the iPod and I was using the steering wheel to go through tracks. I didn't get an track titles on the LED panel, that may be because I'm running 9.55, oh well. The sound is just as it should be crisp and clear. I haven't played too much with it, but I can tell you the PIE adapter has two RCA plugs on it, so if you wanna go for broke you can wire something else into it, just be sure your iPod's not plugged in you'll probably get a dirty connection and it'll sound like butt. Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to take my shotgun and have myself a little target practice with my tape adapter (foul being from hell!!) the car charger and Belkin cradle. Incase anyone's wondering I have the iPod in the coin tray on the left of the steering wheel, this way it's out of the reach of prying hands who want to be "iPod Dj's" in the car.

I'll try to get a review up by saturday I have to be at work at 6am and I'm kinda tired when I leave at two, I'd get it done friday but i have to take the car over to the dealership so they can replace the defroster buttons and rear passenger tail light (the seal broke and it's fogging up) The only thing really left for me is to play with the interface they setup with the <<, >>, <, > buttons that let you go through and select different playlists on the go. I don't know how well that will work since you'll 1. need to see the iPod to make sure you seleceted the right playlist, and 2. the ffwd and rev buttons are on the face of the HU so you're taking your hand off the wheel, but then again most of us are used to not having their right hand on the wheel.

Thanks for clarifying that for me. I have the PIE adapter already so I'm halfway there! I am worried that you're not getting the track titles to show up on your car display. I thought the big reason for the Icelink PLUS was to get that?
Wait..... did you install Icelink or Icelink-PLUS??

Alright I'll answer these questions in order:
flatso I did not disconnect the battery since I completely removed the radio, as for getting the radio loose are you talking the clips that lock it in place or those pain in the *** wires? with the clips I just reach under where the tapedeck or minidisc player would be and wiggle it a little pulling foward that usually loosens it and then work my way up the sides pulling until they all let loose, once you're digging around inside, those wire are just freakin' annoying to get unhooked, just be patient and give it time if you feel that wire clips are slipping back in, I used a small flat-headed screwdriver to get more leverage when I knew I had unhooked the clip but could get the "wire-head" out since there's no working room behind the HU for your hand and forearms, and as I stated before I had totally removed the HU so I pulled the power cable as well so I didn't feel I needed to pull the terminals. As for those tips on free-ing the HU, from the locking clips, feel free to apply them to the ladies they LOVE IT!

Yes I installed the iceLINK plus, and no, no track titles, BUT because the 9.67 flash is for SAT radio, I'm PRESUMING, not ASSUMING that there is text display info in the '67 flash so if you are like me and have the '55 you won't get text unless we see a resurgance of "scuzzy voodoo" as for the PIE adapter, the icelink kit came with one, so hopefully you can get them to yank one out of the box and just send you the wires and board and knock the price down. though their adapter didn't have the PIE sticker on it, and had two RCA inputs. I did have the original iceLINK and it tanked in my car, steering controls didn't work but I wasn't upset about that 'cause I had the clean audio....then that went so I got pissed and sent it back and risked getting a new one.
On a side note, I was playing with the playlis browser....without text dislplay, it's a pain in the ***, you're better off just setting the playlist on the iPod then hooking it up, another thing I've noticed is there's a bit of signal bleed between the ipod and the iceLINK, it runs for about 3-5 seconds, and when you keep pressing for the next track. In the manual Dension talks about firmware updates for the iceLINK viw the iPod, something about a text file that will reflash the 'LINK (sorry getting tired of typing the same thing again and again) I hope that a update in the near future will isolate that little bleed. That's about all for now kiddies until I get another email with more questions.

here are a few things to consider:
1.which VERSION ipod do you have??????
2. you can order JUST the denison piece from www.rx8garage.net if you don't need the PIE
3. I was upgraded to 9.67 by www.rx8garage.net but I'm feeling that you are not getting txt maybe because of an old ipod?
4. check the setup for the ICElink...that is where you setup the display information...if you have the older ipods you will not have access to it
5. DID you press the TEXT button???????? to ACCESS THE DISPLAY INFO????? (like MP3CD owners do?)

I've got a third gen iPod running the 2.2 software, and yes I pushed the text button. I'm not that concerned with the text, I know what I'm listening to, anyone in the car....in the words of Chef "Fudge ya!" As far as the iceLINK setup I did not do that yet, gimme about 30 minutes to raid the fridge and work myself up to get back out there.

I'm getting mine tomorrow and I have 9.67 so we'll see. But Dension said that RX8 doesn't support text disaply. I guess our screen is way too small. I don't care much for that, cause I'm mounting mine on the right vent where you can easily see iPod screen

Hey guys! I just got my IceLink Plus and want to install it. My question is where do you hide the whole assembly? I want only the iPod cradle and its cord visible. Do you put it in the tape/mini disc space? And how do you secure it there (would taping it be enough)?
#68
I would make sure that if you put it there since you sai you were going to make the iPod screen visible, that you not block any of the CD Player buttons. If you want to select another Album or shuffle everything you need to change up to disc 6 and press the >> buttons. If you still want to vent mount it, I say see if it's possible to manage the cord into the vent from the HU space, and if not drill a 3/4 inch hole to the vent and feed the wire through, just make sure to seal up the spacing so you don't get A/C there in the summer since condensation would be bad in the HU.

Hooked everything up today and unfortunately doesn't seem to be working I get a "Kenwood on turn ignition on and off and select changer!" when I connect the battery and then it shows the Denison screen on the Ipod but it won't play throught the radio and the CD changer plays. I have the v 9.55 but others have said it works with that version so I am at a loss as to what is wrong.
#70
Hit the CD button, it should switch over the EX 1 I dont' have CD's in my cd player so it just jumps over to the changer port, as for the kenwood screen, that's a new one on me. If you're getting the Dension screen, you're getting power to the unit and it's seated well. Other then that it could be Dension voodoo, that happened to me with my first iceLINK so I had returned it

No text
I have version 9.67 and no text. I also have 4g ipod and the icelink screen gets stuck on pause and will not play the songs. I have to disconnect the ipod then reconnect, then turn off ACC then turn back on and ipod plays fine. I have found that id I turn off the radio before I turn off the ignition, then I do not have to go through this whole reset process again. I just don't know if I will always remember to turn off the radio every time. I have the ipod in the glove compartment and don't really want to fool with it. I would just like to start the car and have it work without all the reconnect and turning off the ignition. Any suggestions. Also, my ipod connecter (the plastic piece between the box with the RCA plugs and the cord that connects directly to the ipod says Alpine. Is this why I don't get text?
#73
No Text
I actually have the newest firmware update 9.73. But no text. I also have to be sure to shut the radio off before I turn off the ignition or the ipod won't start up properly again when I turn on the ignition. I have to go through a whole reset thing. I'm not real happy about the whole thing. My box with the RCA ouputs and the other hookup does not say anyhting. But the adapter between that box and the icelink cord to the ipod says Alpine.

Icelink install
Also, wanted to let you al know, when the icelink is in the Dennison mode, the sound is good, but when it is in the ipod interface mode, the sound is so low, I can't hear it. I still have no text. Don't understand that.

flatso and bigcynic, I said it before in this thread and I'll say it again. It's scuzzy drive voodoo all over again. It might work, it might not work but damn it is slick when it does. bigcynic, I have no idea how the iceLINK works with 9.67 but I can tell you I don't have to go through that process with my iPod, I just plug it in, turn on the HU and the iPod goes on and starts playing, when I turn off the HU it turns off the iPod. I'd have to say Dension's not heard about or played with the 9.73 flash and some of the updates/changes are screwing with your setup.
