Infinity Basslink install

Just want to say I installed the Basslink unit today, went so smooth and sounds great!!

Thank you, everyone who has posted worthwhile info here, especially the speaker color config, I tapped the plug leaving the bose amp, came out great. This forum saved me hours of trial and error!

Here you go, still need to clean up the wires, I liked the sound best in this position.

Second pic is where I mounted the remote bass control.

Nice installation.
Do you have any rattle after installation?
How many hour did you spend for the installation from start to finish?
Thanks.

Ooooh! That would interfere nicely with where I need to put my suitcase when I go to work!

Seriously... Wish I could do this install, but I actually NEED my trunk. *sigh*

P.S.- I hope SOMEONE forgot to reset the date on his/her camera, otherwise we're being snookered by "yesterday's" install.

Yes, the battery was replaced in the camera, noticed it when I posted, but what the heck.

Install took about 2 hours, about 45 mins was getting through the firewall, it was a little tricky going through the boot on the drivers side. Not much room to punch something through, and I wanted to make sure not to harm anything in the harness. Ended up making a small hole and pushing my power lead through with a coathanger from the engine side. I also tapped both the front and rear speaker wires at the amp. Did the rear first, then the front, sounds better with both IMO.

There is a little rattle in the trunk area if you are standing outside the car, but from the inside it's all good. Really clean sound.

i have a 10 inch sub in mine and the spoiler does not rattle at all. The license plate rattles a tiny bit, but the license plate rattle is only audible if your closer than 2-3 feet to the plate itself.

Other than that, you shouldnt have any problems with rattles.

Unless "yesterday" was in 2004, I fail to see your point.

Jeez, I was just poking a li'l fun... Primarily at myself and the unfortunate truth that I've reached a point in life where I can't give up my luggage space for some extra thump.

The only rattle I get is also out of the license plate, stock spoiler is solid.

Where would you put the dynamat? Everywhere?

Is it hard to put in?

basically u put it where it rattles. like for ur license plate just put it behind the whole license plate. i bought it at Best Buy couple of years ago. They should still carry that or something like it. Just ask someone who works in their Install Bay or Car Audio department. They should know unless their idiots.

It is very ez to put on. Its some kind of black sticky thing.

Yes and No, I looked under the care to make sure I was clear of anything important. I was not real excited about drilling through the trunk, so I used the short screws which were really for the remote gain controller. It only took 2 to make it sit solid. I did not predrill so they are just through the mat/carpet. The wieght of the unit alone makes is stay put.

For the remote screws I used some 1/4" self tapping screws that also are just into the mat/carpet.

Well I guess this is probably a good place to document my Basslink installation for anyone else with the spare tire kit. It fits pretty well where I have it, but I did need to make up some custom brackets. I just modified some off-the-shelf "L" brackets and used 2 threaded rods, 2 acorn nuts in front, 2 lock nuts in back, and 4 washers to secure the Basslink. I was able to push some standard automotive rubber grommets onto the rod to isolate it a bit and keep it all from rattling. And yes, the brackets are screwed through the floor (with a dab of seam sealer on the threads). It's all REALLY solid. The remote is secured flush against the front panel under the seat with double-sided tape. Only the **** sticks out below the bottom edge and it's always within arms reach, completely out of sight, and reversible. Running the wire there was easy too since there's already a hole in the carpet for the rear floor vent. Overall, I'm pretty happy. It sounds great and I'd completely recommend it for anyone looking for a bit more easy bass.

I just had mine installed at the same location, tucked in under the rear deck. This was the last of a complete replacement of the speakers in the front and back.

An infinity 6x8" component set in the front, a set of three-way Polks in the back and the basslink. The improvement is extremely noticeable. The basslink volume was installed on the center console opposite the emergency brake. (Not my idea and a little bit of a surprise as I wouldn't have drilled into the console, but very handy to adjust while driving.

I also have an audiolink for my iPod and Dynamat in the doors and the rear deck below the rear seats. Next I want to Dynamat the floor.

No rattles and I'm very happy with the upgrade. I doesn't look like I'll touch the head unit for now....
