Question Infinity Basslink Installation

Hi all,
I'm trying to install a Basslink on my 8 w/ Bose system this week, but I'm not particularly well versed in audio systems. I've got the power, ground and remote wires run, but I can't figure out where to tap in for the rest. The Basslink has line-level and speaker-level inputs. From what I've read here, it looks like I should be using speaker-level but it needs to tap into front and rear speakers. Rears are easy enough but which wires do I use for the fronts? Do I need to tap in after the smaller amps in the doors or are there wires at the rear amp I can use?

That's true to a point...that's the way I have mine installed at the moment. However, if you EVER adjust your fader, keep in mind that you'll be in effect adjusting the subwoofer output as well, as fading forward will reduce the subwoofer signal and vice versa. Its not a huge deal, but its something to think about.

Thanks for the replies. I was able to track down the wiring diagram in a shop manual. The wires going to the front speakers are right next to the rears in the connector at the amp. I just tapped in to all eight wires there. I got pretty good bass using just the rears, but it was noticeably louder with a better sound once I added the splice to the fronts -- even with fade set to zero...

Any chance you could post the colors of those wires. I want to install a basslink soon, and would love to know the colors of the front wires to tap from the AMP.

Thanks =)

in one of the threads way back, there was discussion about front/rear tapping vs. rear only. the consensus was that the basslink sounds better if you tap into all 4 speakers. that being said, it's probably easiest to tap into the wires right after the harness behind the stereo. you can ground and remote from there too. there's a wiring diagram and photos of the harness on the forum here. you'll have to search for them.

Well generally speaking, if you A/B test it turning on and off the fronts, yeah, the bass will be louder with all four connected. However when up against stock HU amplification, the Basslink has more than enough power to compensate for it. Unless Bose is doing something goofy with the bass content being routed front and rear (I doubt it, then again its Bose so I wouldn't put it past them) there should be no difference beyond the levels non-issue.

you can tap all four speakers off the connector to the bose amp in the trunk. One row is the inputs (to the amp) and one is the outputs (to the speakers). look for the wiring diagrams...

i might be able to dig them up and post if needed.

you can also tap the remote turn on signal at the connector (i think its a pink and black wire, someone posted about it). i tapped everything off the amp connector in the trunk and used a navone 4 ch loc to the basslink.

Personally, I was too lazy to go behind the HU twice. I'm still waiting for Aux Mod Advanced!
