Installing aftermarket amplifier in Bose location

Just checking to see if anyone's found an amp that will mount perfectly in the same location as the stock Bose amp. If not, I'll be doing the dirty work to find one.

Make a bracket that will bolt to the stock location that is also large enough to mount whatever amp you want there.

A sheet of aluminum diamond plate would work perfectly. That's what I did with my car computer system in my old accord. Cut a sheet of diamond plate big enough for the car computer case to mount to, then mount the plate to the OEM amp rack.

Buying an amp because of it's physical size and shape is one of the worst ways I can think of to buy an amp. Sure you could find one, but it could also sound like crap.

I could also find one that happens to work and sounds good though

I'll look at the bracket idea as well. It may be possible to mount front underneath the trunk instead of from above.

I wouldn't suggest putting a high power amp there. Since heat rises, it will just cause the amp to run hotter.

yeah the trunk lid is a bad idea. if you do a bracket from the stock location, be aware that clearance may become an issue if and when you ever move the sub box. idk how much you intend on moving it around but thats something to consider even in installation

I'm only going for a 4-channel amp, nothing big and powerful. No subs, so no box to worry about. I think if the Bose amp can survive the trunk then a modest 4-channel aftermarket amplifier would survive.

I got a 300w 4ch amp and it barely gets warm.

Sorry for going off topic but how did you remove the center rear cover between the rear speaker covers, where the bose amp goes. I've seen the instruction picture but it wont come off.

Remove the rear seats, then the side plastic rear deck pieces.

The trunk storage compartment accessory turned out to be a perfect amp rack for my 2 amps. It hasn't been hot lately so I haven't had any heat issues.

Anyone has an idea if replacing the stock amp with an aftermarket amp, will I need a special harness t ? Sorry this might be a noob question, the speakers are new and just thought upgrading the amp will give me a better voice...

i dont think it would give that much of a boost... what you might want to consider is buying new rear speakers and attach it to the bose amp. look into something that is mostly a highs and mids since you have ur l5 for you lows and bass
