Why does the XCarLink site say that the firmware version of the head unit must be 9.55 or greater to be compatible... but then goes on to say that it can't be version 9.81 or 10.01? Aren't both those numbers greater than 9.55?! What the...?

audiolink/xcarlink is the stuff
i have it took an hour to put in
wired the adapter into my cup holder since the songs dont show up on the screen you can use the steering wheel controls or change directly from my iPhone 3g i never have to charge it at home becuase it charges so fast in the car
it has good sound quality also just make sure when u hit a bump you know it will shuffle your songs but im sure thatll happen with any connector due to shaking the phone shuffles them anyway which is what happens when you hit bump
also it has a 3.5mm jack that i wired into the console incase another mp3 comes along or a friend has something to listen to etc.
so i guess the only thing is bluetooth but you didnt say that was a requirement
it plugs into the exterior cd player jack on the back of the stock radio then goes to a box that fits convieniently behind your cigarett tray module thing then just ran the wires under the console until the center of it or until the cup holder
works great i have an 04 GT Winnning Blue
all you see is the wire
all you do is hit CD and youll see EX: 4.....
if you plug in now you wont be able to change the song from your phone just the steering wheel controls and it will only do playlists
so hit disc down and youll see EX:1
this should allow you to use steering wheel controls and change from your phone whichever you feel
but if it doesnt unplug takes two secs itll go back to EX:4
somtimes it took me a couple trys but im impatient
i dont recall which site i got it from
the only CON is if you want to run the cords to the consol (part that opens not the cup holder) you must drill a small hole in thelittle plate that comes up at the back of the opening under the felt
and my cord that charges it not the 3.5mm would not reach that console so its wired into the cupholder where i put my phone anyway but the 3.5mm is still wired into the center console ill put up pictures in a bit when i go to take some
HERE THEY ARE
the one in the cup holder
3.5mm in the console
the hole for the 3.5mm
hole for the iphone jack
now its out of the way
now its gone just behind the removable piece if you dont like the unsightly look of it when not using it
3.5 tucked away also.... not all the way though but out of the way for objects in the console
and of course all hides away when closed

That's annoying it the xcarlink only allows playlists.
I bought the Parrot Mki9200 and it's a freaking nightmare.
No ISO connectors or anything.
The screen is nice, buy my installer is having a hell of a time installing it.
Any tips?
I think I'm going to go with the xcarlink one. It seems like the best one so far.

i use audiolink [for my ipod touch 2nd]
it let me allow to change songs on the steering wheel, plus let me control the ipod when it's connected.
however the bad point is that it doesn't let me charge.
the reason is that new ipod generations use different version?? sth like that so it doesn't charge.
what you can do it that you can buy a scoche ipod adapter, so
you need audiolink connector and scoche adapter.
then it allows you to charge. ^^

I was looking at parrot kits earlier, can't find the link now that explained it all but in short you need a cable harness such as the ones here.
It's a bit ridiculous that this is all needed, the MKi9200 is $299.99, then another $150 for this harness? What a joke, all for a screen that shows who's calling?? I'm returning the Parrot kit today (I work at Best Buy as a second job, so it didn't cost me anything near the $300).
Ah well, how much are people spending on the Metra Kit and a good deck? I think I can order them through my store.

You guys seem to have experience with the XCarLink kit. I'm gonna check what is my revision, but basic logic tells me they got it wrong:
The factory headunit's firmware revision must be 9.55 or greater. The unit will not work on earlier firmware revisions or with 9.81 or 10.01.
9.81 and 10.01 are both greater than 9.55?!
I'm also wondering, I have the Bose audio with the 6 cd changer, would that work or my port is taken by my 6 cd changer? Keep in mind the changer is in-dash, so it's probably not the external changer but who knows?
Anyone has it with the 6 cd changer?

Hey I got the XCarLink installed and love it, I actualy use the Bluetooth part of it with my iPhone 3g so I keep total control over the phone and what to wanna listen, movie or music. Quality of the bluetooth is as good as listening to a cd, it's awesome.
As far as he firmware #s yeah they are higher but those specific 2 don't work, even if they are higher. The adapter does plug in the back of your radio where the 6cd changer plugs in, so u gotta choose what u want between the 2.
Hope this helps
