ipod adapter

i have seen several of these but i was wondering which one is the best. i know alot of them say you can still use the steering wheel controls with them but does this work smooth or is it kinda thrown in there. i actually don't have an ipod but i do have a zune so i would be using the headphone jack and not the ipod hook up.

sell your zune and get an ipod of ebay/craigslist for cheap. THEN go buy the Grom Audio ipod integration. works great, steering wheel controls, ipod control if wanted, and charges your ipod the whole time. its not a jack its an ipod connector. I wired mine to go to the cupholders, easy install. best mod i've done

lol see the only reason why i got a zune instead of an ipod is because most of my music is in wma format. so instead of converting all of my music to mp3 or whatnot i just bought a zune.

Im interested in hard wiring my ipod also, Any feedback on the grom would be great seeing as its cheaper than the xcarlink adapter. i have heard they dont work if you have satellite radio, i have gps in my car so that is sattelite oriented i suppose. am i completely wrong and it would still work or would that get in the way?

I installed this today. Took me about an hour with basic tools. It only took me this long because the frekkin hidden "magical bolt" took a while to find. I couldn't find it for the longest time mainly because all the DIY guides and pictures aren't actually able to get a look at it! When they say it's hidden, they mean hidden. I successfully made a small annoying scratch on the side of my faceplate which pissed me off, but the rest of the install was very easy.

I'll have to say it's a great value considering it was only 85 shipped but my only complaints are that it doesn't read the song/artist name and the advanced mode of the unit is kinda lame. Maybe it's just because I was spoiled from my Alpine x100 unit from my Sonata which was amazing, but this is at least a decent upgrade. I will probably only be using the "basic" ipod mode which means just setting my ipod on random and switching songs up and down or manually selecting playlists. Overall decent.

Just got for it haha. there's a pretty good DIY video on youtube on how to pull out the head unit. its not too challenging. The hidden screw is the hardest part really.

Just an FYI.............

Installed a GROM in my Daughters 3 several weeks ago. That install is much easier than ours!
So far, so good.........and she has a Zune.
