ipod adapter question

ok. so i jus got the ipod adapter. The factory one. My first question is, on the black chord goin from the hu to the adapter there are two little yellow wires that have clamps. Like to hook em up to another wire. What the hell are they for? it worked with out them being hooked up to anything. ANd my second question is when the ipod is plugged in it only says Ex:1 and goes to 1:99. How do i play more? i have to take out the ipod connection and select an artist or re-do the shuffle for it to play different songs. So whats the deal?

i am on my phone on the internet. very slow. if someone dnt mind texting me an answer to these things that'd be awesome.

Ex1-99 are on the other iPod adapters different tracks within the selected playlist. if you were to play track 100 it displays EX01 and the same for track 101, but then it counts correctly.
