iPod your 8

i didn't end up doing the install but I presume that they may have secured the neo box inside the HU where cassette or MD is supposed to slot in.. or maybe behind the HU?
the cable run to the ride side of the gear alongside the parking brake and pops out just as you can see on the picture. the best thing about this setup is that I can just leave the iPod in the car like a stereo system and you can't see any alterations done to the car once the armrest is closed.

I did this:
1. Installed PIE Box
2. Bought cig. lighter power cord for center console
3. Ran my RCA under the trin and dropped it near the cig. lighter
4. Bought the iJET RF Remote (no line-of-sight needed)
Now I can control my ipod from a tiny remote I keep in my ash tray. I cant see the song titles, but I dont really care since its my iPod, only the music I like is there anyways. The only crappy part is not being able The best part is that no one from the outside can see that I have an ipod installed.

There has been some announcements from Mazda that iPod support will appear in the 2006 model year.
Questions are these:
Availability outside of Japan?
Cost?
Backward compatability?
Anyone have any answers to these?

i have no major complaint about neo.
sometimes, the control will not function when i hurry off but once it's disconnected and reconnected, it works back as per normal.. other than the seldom happening hiccups, Neo is recommended. I don't know about local suppliers but I wouldn't really recommend even if I knew.. I just ordered from the site and it came within few days time and shipping cost wasn't too bad. the install is simple matter of getting the HU out and plugging a connector.
but make sure your HU has 9.55 firmware or above I think..

I ordered one last 2 weeks ago. Came in a matter of days - easy install. And like Playa said, if your in a hurry, the controller may not allow control to be used at the steering wheel. Other than that, I LOVE it - My NANO rocks. I developed a hanger to hold it (Nano) by the A/C vent which makes looking for it or controlling it much easier.
Getting the Video iPod version soon!

Hey, I have a question regarding the iPod and the factory stereo headunit. I have an 05 RX8 with the bose system. Does the head unit have RCA inputs in the back? Because I hate how the FM transmitter sounds and its a sloppy looking mess with the cords. So I need some help with that question and if you guys can answer it..that would be great! Thanks.

i am just wondering where you have the connector come out

IceLink and Battery Problems
I installed my IceLink last May following the instructions posted in this forum. It's worked great since the install and has been the best addition to my RX8 so far.
Recently, though, I've had problems with my battery. I've had to jump my car 3 times in the past 5 days. I took in into the dealership today and they just called telling me the battery has slowly been draining because of the IceLink. They said that you cannot have anything wired to the back of the radio harness because it doesn't allow the computer to fully go to sleep when the car is off. They are going to put in a new battery, plugs and starter (under warranty) but told me I need to relocate the IceLink. The dealer had the same issue recently with a car that had satellite radio installed.
They haven't called back yet to tell me where I should hook it up...has anyone else heard of this?

Sounds like bs to me. I have had the icelink for almost a year now and have not had a problem. That being said I replaced my battery with the 6 cell. The stock battery is way to small and any slight drain i.e. door being left open for too long will result in a jump start.

yeah.. i had no problem with battery draining.
just make sure to check the ipod is off when you switch off the car.
there are some instances where the ipod is left turned on although neo icelink should send signal to turn it off. happened to me few times and I manually turned off ipod and still had the ipod hooked up.
I think it's a little glitch with the neo icelink systems.
