JL Audio CleanSweep CL441DSP

Anybody installed the JL Audio CleanSweep in their RX-8. I'm looking to put one in within the next 2 weeks or so. Was it hard to install? Notice better sound quality? Any advice will be appreciated...

I have the CleanSweep and love it. The installation is straight forward using the wiring diagrams/colors found elsewhere in this forum.

As far as sound quality, I don't really understand your question. What are you comparing it to? I replaced all Bose amps and speakers w/ Eclipse. It sounds a zillion times better than stock.

one thing i read the other day is your oem volume **** becomes null and you have to use the supplied moutable volume **** to adjust the volume.... also i read that there is no subwoofer output, only front and rear which can further hinder the system....

my prefered setup is a set of components for the front and rear, a 10" or 12" sub, and one 5-channel amplifier to power them accordingly.... i am no audiophile so maybe it all works fine, but i don't know if the output from the front or rear would be sent to the single amplifier....

the main reason i would like to use the cleansweep is for good and expandable sound quality without hindering the factory look and controls, but i think if i had to control the volume through a mounted control ****, i wouldn't install it

The OEM volume **** does not become null or void. For best results, the system is calibrated w/ the OEM volume about 75% and the JL volume control is used. However, if after calibration, you put the JL volume **** to max and use the OEM volume, it works fine. This may not work in all cars, but I can't tell the diference in sound quality in the 8. With that said, you must use the JL volume control (or the devices volume control) if you are using the aux in.

You are correct, there is no subwoofer out. You really only need it if you want subwoofer level control and your amp does not have it. And thats if your amp has 5 channel input. Either way, there are ways around this.

Looking at what you are expecting, I don't think the JL is for you. I would recommend one of the AudioControl products. Their newer interfaces offer all that you are wanting. I actually had AudioControl before, but switched to the JL for the aux in. Now AudioControl is using aux in also so if I were to do it now, I would go back w/ them.
