JL Audio Questions

I'm buying me the 4080 and I'm looking at JL 10w3v2 sub and an amp. I was wondering what amp I need to power 1 sub. If I were to change all my speakers will I need to wire that up to the amp and will I require another amp for this?

buy an amp that has the same rating for the sub or a bit more...then have a seperate amp for the rest of the speakers

I just put in a JL 12w1 and it sounds beautiful...a perfect complement

I got the 12w1 used from a guy for cheap $20 and a new box ready to go (carpeted, w/speaker connection) $26

currently I'm using a cheap Jensen amp! bridged it puts out 170watts RMS and I bought a cheap LOC from Circuit City for $20 since the speaker level inputs on the AMP can't handle the bose signal

It really sounds great

since you are looking at a 300watt RMS sub you'll need something more powerful, definitely stay away from any of Fosgate's current offerings

really if you want a good deal on an amp check out www.craiglist.org make sure you are in your locality by clicking the link on the right side and look over the 'auto parts' or 'electronics' for sale section

I have the 4080 box with a JL 10w6v2 and a JL 500/1 amp. It sounds great, my audio setup pics are here. I also replaced all the other speakers but didn't hook them up to an amp.

gulp

I need a new amp though I'm having a hard time fully extracting the power from the 12w1

I'm waiting for Phoenix Gold's new RSD line to come out then I may upgrade everything and put my setup in my girlfriend's Mazda3

I have the 10W3V2 and power currently power it with one channel of a e6450 which believe it or not puts about 200 Watts into it. In my current set-up that is good enough (I have 8 inch subs in sealed enclosures in the doors - yes, you read that right)

Before my current system, I had an MTX 311D powering it which put 300 Watts into it and it played a little harder. (In fact I still have that amp and the mounting board...)

i hate to say it, but if you are doing the install yourself, get a brand with a real warranty. the specialty retailer i work for has carried jl audio for almost 10 years, and we helped build the brand in our area to what it is. but recently jl audio changed their warranty to only 90 days if you install it yourself. that is the reason why we stopped really pushing the brand and picked up a new line.

which w3 did you get, a d2, d4 or d6?

what kind of budget are you on?
